Accountability Objective :

This position is responsible for the overall global strategy, functional management, and leadership of all sales & marketing activities associated with the Surface Conditioning business. The primary goal of the position is to achieve profitable growth in line with business strategy & expectations.

Principal End Results :

  • Effectively organize & manage sales, market & product managers to meet/exceed growth targets.

  • Properly train, guide, and motivate sales & marketing force to maximize performance in each market & product lines.

  • Proactively take ownership of and effectively manage strategic customers, both internal & external.

  • Lead key sales & marketing projects while ensuring clear coordination among project team members to achieve results in a timely fashion.

  • Complete knowledge and proactive monitoring of market & technology trends, competitor movements, pricing trends, and customer movements both domestic & international. Utilize marketing tools to identify high growth market segments with associated strategies to address.

  • Analyze sales & marketing information to develop & implement strategies that are in line with business goals & objectives. Scope of strategic initiatives can be domestic or international.

  • Ensure clear communication of sales & marketing activities and strategies to upper management, peers, other functional heads, and reporting structure (both direct & matrix).

  • Complete sales & market forecasts for Strategic Plan & Budget in a timely fashion.

    Nature and Scope :

    The Sales and Marketing Director is required to be a leader who effectively manages the sales & marketing team to achieve/exceed targets set forth by the General Manager. He/She is expected to be able to handle breadth of scope in highly technical products, markets & applications to achieve tangible results in a timely fashion. He/She must also demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit who does not accept the status quo but shows initiative, accountability, and risk management to clearly define, communicate and implement strategic initiatives that lead to profitable growth of the Surface Conditioning business. He/She is a proven leader of managers who is not a simple delegator but takes accountability to not only lead but to develop reports to maximize their growth & performance. Finally, he/she must be able to work independently with little to no supervision who can analyze complex situations quickly to make difficult decisions without hesitation.

    Background/Skills :

    It is highly desirable that a person in this position possess a BS/MBA degree or the equivalent and a minimum of 5-7 years of sales and/or marketing experience. He/She should also have some experience in managing mid-level managers. The candidate must also possess excellent initiative, leadership, organizational, communication, and entrepreneurial skills.
