This position is responsible for strengthening and diversifying funding by planning and implementing a strategic fundraising plan for Veterans Inc. to include a strategy for garnering support across the geographical area served. The agency has programs physically located in all six New England states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire, as well as in Montana and North Dakota. The service area expands across the United States with a toll-free call center connecting veterans and their families to appropriate resources.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY:

  • Create and oversee strategic development plan.

  • Grant proposals: Oversight of grant writing team; help to develop proposals and letters of interest to funders as necessary; respond to funders' questions as needed. Monitor progress on grants and contracts ensuring all reporting requirements are met. Ensure all files are maintained on grants and contracts and soft copy is on shared drive. Maintain current data for programs and funding requests. Schedule preplanning and implementation meetings to inform staff about newly received grants/contracts and subsequent funding requirements.

  • Oversee all fundraising events and activities and implement fundraising policies and procedures

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with individuals, associations, foundations and corporations across the service areas to solicit financial support.

  • Seek out new funding sources that will fund new initiatives, support current programs and fund needed projects, collaborating with senior management to identify fundable projects fitting organizational strategies.

  • Oversee capital campaigns in support of the organization's strategic plan.

  • Develop, implement, and manage a planned giving program that supports philanthropy through bequests, charitable trusts, and endowments.

  • Oversee the gift processing and acknowledgement program. Ensure comprehensive, accurate donor and prospective donor records.

  • Generate financial reports regarding gifts, grants, and pledges.

  • Oversee coordination of volunteers.

  • Review and gain thorough understanding of all agency programs.

  • Serve as primary relationship manager/liaison with foundation funders, and corporate funders as needed. Prepare letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, budgets, acknowledgments and other materials as needed to secure and advance support.

  • Coordinate the development of annual report.

  • Support communications strategy. Assist in the creation of print, digital and social media content.

  • Provide monthly, quarterly, annual, and "as needed" reports to Executive Team and Board of Directors.

  • Management Duties: Supervision of designated staff. Responsible for timely performance reviews for all staff and developing goals with staff input. Responsible for coordinating with Human Resources regarding disciplinary measures, employee relations, and employee training and development. Responsible for authorizing and approving staff time, attendance and reimbursement requests as set forth in Veterans Inc. policy and procedures.

    WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Nonprofit Administration, Public Administration, Communications, or Related Field required.

  • Master's degree in Business, Nonprofit Administration, Public Administration, Communications, or Related Field preferred.

  • CFRE highly valued.

  • Two years of management or supervisory experience.

  • Minimum of Five years of fundraising experience.

  • Experience and/or certification in Principles of Lean Management Systems or Six Sigma highly valued.

  • The ability to successfully pass all Veterans Inc. pre-hire testing including, but not limited to CORI/Background and drug screening
