Veterans Inc., the largest provider of services to veterans and their families throughout New England, is looking for a professional, highly motivated, goal-oriented, skilled, and hardworking individual to fill the Community Outreach Specialist position and become a valued member of Veterans Inc. team!

Veterans Inc. is currently looking for a Community Outreach Specialist. This person represents the agency in Massachusetts to develop and maintain positive relationships with key referral sources to meet and exceed census goals. Collaborates closely with community connections to generate referral sources. This position will promote our programs in community service areas across Massachusetts by communicating our entire array of services through direct personal contact with existing and potential referral sources.

This individual would be based out of Headquarters in Worcester, MA. This position requires travel, all duties would be performed throughout the designated territory's surrounding cities and towns.

Essential Functions

  • Acts as liaison to promote Veterans Inc. services and provides networking to local, regional, and state entities, including community agencies, state and local governments, and community partners.

  • Offer informed tours of our facilities to potential or existing referral sources.

  • Professionally represent Veterans Inc. at networking events, conferences, and meetings.

  • Acts as a facilitator between the referral sources and our programming regarding communication follow-up. Works closely with the Admissions and Data Department.

  • Consistently gains customer commitment throughout the referral process.

  • Identifies the most viable, potential referral sources and determines how to access those sources.

  • Accurately refers clients to the organization with an understanding of appropriateness and level of care. Directly assists and supports the development staff at key meetings with executive-level audiences (expected daily local travel and occasional overnight) and can encompass nights and weekends.

  • Assists in the development of marketing/PR materials that will be utilized for building/maintaining relationships.

  • Draft communications to prospective referral sources and appropriate community resources.

  • Work closely with Executive Management to obtain/maintain optimal revenue by achieving maximum referrals for programs and services.

  • Understands all eligibility guidelines for all programming.

  • Monitors competitors' strengths and weaknesses and reports any updates or changes to the Executive Team.

  • Develops individual plans, using a unique program approach, identifying, developing, and maintaining specific referral account activities. Develops a monthly report of referrals. Execute analysis of the assigned region and creates a strategic plan.

  • Remains informed/educated on current trends and treatment approaches for addiction and co-occurring disorders.

  • Assist with the coordination of client company events and activities.

  • Assist with client follow-up calls when needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Business, or other related field required.

  • Minimum of one-year sales experience preferred.

  • Minimum of two years' experience working in a non-profit environment.

  • Services include housing, employment & training, counseling, family support programs, benefits counseling and advocacy, temporary financial assistance, health and wellness, food services, post-9/11 support, women & childcare services, and an addiction treatment center.

  • Preferred experience in promoting Addiction Treatment, Housing, Employment Training, Outreach, and Services to the Homeless.

  • Experience working with in the addiction or 12 step program environment a plus.

  • Excellent public speaking and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to establish and expand relationships with key executives and decision makers within each referral.

  • Results driven - documented success in exceeding goals or objectives.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
