Description
Summary:
A temporary full-time position is available at the Marine Biological Laboratory for an Animal Care Assistant. Under direction of the Animal Care Facility Manager, the individual will assist in the daily operations of the Mammalian Animal Care Facility. Duties may also include care of avian, reptile, and amphibian species.
Additional Information:
The primary responsibility is for the husbandry (care and feeding) of laboratory animals. This will include daily health monitoring, receiving animals, maintenance of environmental conditions, and associated record keeping. This position will require weekend duties and has a start date of the 3rd week of May and an end date of late August or early September. The start and end dates have some flexibility to accommodate school scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with 2 years undergraduate study in the field of biological sciences. Preference will also be given to applicants with prior experience in laboratory animal husbandry or veterinary technology, and knowledge of the principles of sanitation.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates should be able to lift 40 lbs.
