We are looking for a Corporate Packaging Manager to be responsible for packaging strategy and operations for the United States and Canadian regions. In this role you will be responsible for developing the overall strategy and managing a staff of Graphic Designers to drive Best-in-class packaging solutions. You will lead the development, design and validation of packaging components for existing products and new product introductions, supporting multiple packaging initiatives including new product / packaging innovation and productivity projects in the areas of material, labor and supply chain efficiencies. And you will be responsible for setting the vision, providing leadership and ensuring continued growth and empowerment and motivation of the team.

What You Will Be Doing

In this role you will:

Define and implement packaging strategy, working plans and projects to support the global packaging vision, key strategies and guiding principles.

Lead innovative packaging design solutions to support brand development and distinction.

Work closely with product marketing, sales marketing, and product development to define / create innovative packaging concepts.

Participate in cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement new packaging and packaging changes for quality or cost improvements.

Evaluate supplier selection for new packaging.

Collaborate with suppliers and external agencies to develop packaging design, specifications and implement packaging improvements.

Collaborate with cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to ensure that an open line of communication and understanding of packaging and process needs are established.

Continuously evaluate rapid prototyping and design capabilities, to improve quality and time to market.

Actively participate in marketing and marketing research programs, including focus groups and other consumer research formats.

Provide technical support for field issue resolution.

Lead cross-organizational teams on continuous improvement and best practices regarding organization and internal process for true global symmetry and organizational structure.

Assist with and/or complete the development of budgets; monitor spending.

Lead project and department communications at senior level meetings.

Keep abreast of industry changes, new innovations and equipment and make recommendations for updating designs and processes.

Determine appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources.

Work with Business Segment Heads and Product Managers to understand priorities, and plan resource and time allocation accordingly.

Lead team in the achievement of organizational goals.

Guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports, and if applicable, drive those practices throughout the organization.

Provide guidance and training to staff, helping subordinates to attain career goals, motivating individuals to achieve results, and recruiting and maintaining a high-quality staff.

Provide effective leadership and communication in cross-functional project teams

Approximately 15% travel may be required in support of the positions responsibilities.

What You Need for this Position

BS in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Graphic Design or a related field.

3 years of experience in packaging operations from manufacturing to warehouse and distribution systems.

5 years or more of related work experience within Consumer Products or a related industry (either on the client or vendor side) strongly preferred

Previous experience in the strategy and development/execution of packaging development programs.

3 years or more of management experience preferred

International / Global experience preferred.
