The Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and supporting all aspects of operations communications. This position works to develop meaningful messages through words, ideas, and images that successfully communicate SRO initiatives and projects. The Communications will ensure messages are consistent with the overall SRO objective to maintain and promote a positive image to UniFirst employees whom the SRO projects will impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop content, communication strategies, and programs that engage and inspire employees at all levels to be active and engaged members of company projects.

  • Work with stakeholders on producing and developing employee newsletters and other communications – sourcing and writing relevant, accurate, and engaging content.

  • Develop internal digital signage network content to help drive results and engagement and deliver key messages.

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify objectives, create templates, and ensure content is fresh, relevant, and consistently up to date.

  • Maintain an SRO internal communications calendar for the organization and proactively contact stakeholders to keep communication timing on track.

  • Focused efforts on developing, implementing, and executing a communications strategy to reach non-desk employees to ensure they have a consistent message regarding company projects.

  • Provide ongoing creative ideas to ensure SRO messaging is forward-looking and innovative.

  • Assist with other SRO’s communication projects as needed.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Communications bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, or related field

  • 1-3 years’ experience in internal communications, public relations or corporate communications required.

  • Experience in graphic design is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office is required.

  • Ability to independently structure and manage workflow and priorities.

  • Must have strong written / verbal / interpersonal communication skills with a high standard for quality and a stickler for details.

  • Excellent verbal communications and people skills
