Citizens Consumer Banking Strategy Consultant in Westwood, Massachusetts

Citizens is looking for an experienced strategy professional to join its Consumer Banking Strategy & Development team. This team sets the strategic agenda and direction for the division and acts as a trusted advisor to the Consumer Bank senior leadership team (CEO, CFO, heads of businesses, and other members of the leadership team). The team identifies high impact strategic areas of opportunity across the Consumer Bank’s portfolio of businesses, works with business leaders to develop and execute against strategic roadmaps, identifies and assists the execution of Business Development / M&A opportunities, enables and coordinates innovation efforts across the division, orchestrates our enterprise sustainability efforts across various stakeholders, and oversees the development and oversight of division ‐ wide revenue and efficiency efforts.

This role is for a senior strategy consultant who wants to help drive a bold vision to achieve competitive advantage, excels at solving complex problems facing customers and businesses, and values being a collaborative partner. The role requires the ability to be highly influential with key stakeholders, work collaboratively to develop and execute on the divisional strategy, and drive actionable insights based on industry dynamics.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic planning and business management process in partnership with business leaders, Finance, Risk, Corporate Strategy and other key stakeholders to formalize and document objectives and key results to measure success and actions to achieve them

  • Monitor, analyze and translate the impact on strategic considerations relevant events and trends in the external environment including economic drivers, customer behavior trends, competitive threats, Fintech developments and other industry, regulatory, and consumer related strategy topics

  • Develop and manage programs and processes for evaluating and prioritizing divisional and lines of business strategies, progress on performance, and return on investment; structure business line reviews/quarterly business reviews and leadership team meeting agendas that facilitate decision making and prioritization

  • Perform targeted, structured strategic analysis on the portfolio of businesses in the Consumer Bank. Assess markets, competitive position, new product/distribution channel opportunities and value proposition considerations

  • Perform financial analysis and forecasting: Collaborate with divisional finance teams and FP&A to develop and analyze strategic options and financial forecasts

  • Translate and frame external insights into decision points, prioritization considerations, and actionable recommendations

  • Support the administration of investment allocation and portfolio tracking and financial return on investment analysis for Consumer Bank initiatives

  • Produce board presentations, strategic communications, and other division-wide/lines of business analysis and presentations (for internal and external audiences); provide executive support to drive improved alignment/synergies across the division, and with enterprise-wide strategy partners

Qualifications

  • Possess 3-5 years of experience in a strategy role, preferably in financial services, with the ability to manage multiple work efforts and deliver clear insights and recommendations to facilitate executive discussions

  • Strong financial acumen, analytical, and problem-solving skills – ability to diagnose problems, determine key findings and opportunities from data, analytics and internal/external research, prioritize strategic solutions, and present clear and comprehensive recommendations to senior management

  • Well versed in current events and issues facing banks and financial services companies including competitive environment and customer behavior trends

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including experience in creating board level and external investor quality presentations

  • Strong engagement, partnership, and relationship building skills, at all levels of the organization

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Prior management consultancy experience a plus

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA a plus
