Biogen Senior Manager, Editorial Content Lead in Weston, Massachusetts

The Editorial Content Lead in the US Organization is primarily responsible for writing and producing content on behalf of the US organization and its key executives. The Senior Manager will execute on content strategy that is defined by corporate affairs. Success in this role requires strong writing skills and ability to reinforce business objectives through storytelling. The senior manager will write and, when needed, work with agency/freelancers to produce multimedia content for a range of internal and external audiences and channels. The senior manager will support a team of communication professionals and senior executives, including the President of the US organization, with drafting of articles, press releases, speeches, blog posts and social media copy to support our company culture, business or strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have an interest in learning about the US business, its employees and patient stories to inform creative and compelling storytelling. This role requires an individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, generating a high-volume of quality content and managing an editorial calendar. This individual will also be accountable for ensuring that the projects are delivered according to assigned scope, approved budget and target dates, with a steadfast commitment to quality of message. This role reports to the Head of US Corporate Affairs and is an employee of the US Organization, based in Weston, Mass. Key Responsibilities: • Drive the development of communications for a range of distribution platforms including Town Halls, organization-wide email, intranet and social media platforms • Work closely with the Head of US Corporate Affairs to develop internal communications to the US organization while ensuring coordination with global corporate affairs colleagues • Support corporate brand campaign by identifying and executing activations in the US Organization, in alignment with global corporate affairs CSR team • Develop a deep understanding of the US business to ensure communications are aligned with the strategic direction of the organization • Identify creative, compelling content series that engage internal audiences; work with production partners to develop videos, imagery and other assets to support storytelling • Support Corporate Affairs team with external thought-leadership strategy by drafting articles, blog posts and social media copy for the US leadership team • Draft speeches or written communication on behalf of the US President, with a focus on understanding her voice and communication style • Ensure appropriate reviews of content and campaigns in collaboration with legal, regulatory and compliance colleagues • Develop metrics for internal communication projects and measure success of campaigns and activities • This role requires strong collaboration and networking across the US and global organizations while able to lead and work independently • 7+ years of journalism or storytelling experience in progressively senior roles in terms of responsibility • Ideally, experience with writing on behalf of executives or other leaders • Ability to develop creative storytelling while ensuring key messages are included in content • Understanding of distribution channels and best practices for engaging audiences (i.e. social media, email, intranet, etc.) • Ideally, experience with social media strategies including content development • Ability to focus on execution and follow-through with a sense of urgency • Strong business acumen and some knowledge of healthcare • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in a matrixed environment to develop strategies and tactics while ensuring excellence in implementation • Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to quickly understand business context and company culture • Demonstrated good judgment and ability to effectively prioritize workload • Creative, innovative, agile and flexible • Ability to work well under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment Education: Bachelor’s degree is required; ideally in Communications, Marketing or Journalism or a degree in liberal arts All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
