Job Description

The Senior Manager of Strategic Marketing, Respiratory will be a global marketing leader and subject matter expert within the Global Respiratory business unit. They will play a critical role in the Global Strategic Marketing function by facilitating the development and execution of Olympus’ strategy for its quickly growing Respiratory business. They will help coordinate work across the Respiratory business unit to ensure investments are prioritized effectively and aligned with the overarching strategy. The role will also support the organization in understanding market / technology trends, analyzing the competition, and assessing viability of new business opportunities (inorganic, organic, market development).

The right candidate will have a strong agility to successfully pivot between various responsibilities required of this role. This role requires the ability to develop and apply broad knowledge regarding customer needs, value chain, market structure, and medical solution offerings. The ideal candidate enjoys creative problem solving and has the ability to generate compelling investment stories / business plans. They will apply a strong, data-driven approach to their work and will also be an expert communicator (oral, written, presentation), particularly for the senior executive audiences.

Job Duties

  • Develop intimacy with the markets, competitors, and solutions relating to the focus of the Respiratory business unit by conducting market research, engaging with HCPs, attending conventions, and visiting customers.

  • Help manage the Respiratory business unit (BU)’s strategic business planning process and help develop the BU’s strategic business plan.

  • Partner with product management teams and commercial organizations to help develop portfolio strategies and product roadmaps which align with the overarching strategic plan.

  • Support project teams in developing and maintaining the integrity of data for project budgets, timelines and revenue forecasts.

  • Conduct analysis of the Respiratory portfolio and help prioritize organic, inorganic, clinical, and market development investments; ensure those investments are aligned with the Respiratory BU strategy.

  • Help identify opportunities for new technologies and market development opportunities that support the Respiratory strategy; assess viability of such opportunities and develop business cases for their development.

  • Build strong relationships and ensure effective collaboration with key functions inside (global marketing, R&D, operations, clinical / medical affairs) and outside the Respiratory business unit. (corporate strategy, business development, market intelligence)

  • Work within the guidelines of the Olympus compliance programs when interacting with HCP's.

  • Act as a role model for the company demonstrating professionalism and impeccable ethics.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in science, engineering, finance, marketing, healthcare or related field is required.

  • Minimum of 6 years of business experience in the healthcare space (medical device, diagnostics, biologics, pharmaceuticals, SaMD/SaaS) is required.

  • Ability to work overtime, including evenings and weekends from home, on occasion.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 15-25% monthly to visit customers, Olympus business sites, and attend trade shows and events.


  • MBA or other graduate-level degree strongly preferred.

  • Ideal candidate will have worked in across a blend of roles including a product management, R&D, business development, corporate strategy, and / or portfolio management

  • Respiratory product experience is viewed as helpful

  • Ability to lead project teams.

  • Strong clinical competency and analytical skills required.

  • Broad experience successfully developing new products in the medical device industry from concept to commercialization.

  • Experienced in designing and executing voice of customer research.

  • Self-motivated individual with track record of establishing and executing on goals and successfully leading cross-functional teams for the same.

  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Advanced analytical skills.

  • Proven track record identifying and developing new business opportunities.

  • Superior writing, composition, english grammar skills a must.
