Job Description

The Senior Manager, Global Business Process will implement and manage the Global Business Processes, including compliance and continuous improvement for the Olympus Medical Divisions (Therapeutics Solutions Division (TSD) and Endoscopic Solutions Division (ESD)). This includes developing, implementing, and coordinating necessary business processes for Product Development, Technology Development and Research, and Sustaining projects, creating tools, templates, documentation, and training to drive skill sets and capabilities. This includes providing systems administration and end user support for all the business process training initiatives through various Learning Management Systems (LMS) and any other training system managed within the regions. In this role they will work across multiple levels of the organization from the Portfolio Management Team, regional PMO’s, Program / Project Managers, Functional Managers and Core Team Members

Job Duties

  • Accountable for driving rigor, discipline, value, and sustainability in business processes in order to influence a culture of accountability for the development of high-quality products and achievement of business results.

  • Specific responsibilities include:

  • Drive business process compliance, improvements, and sustainability:

  • Drives compliance to the GPMO Business Review Deliverables (BRD) standards, enabling tools and organizational capabilities.

  • Creates training materials and provides business process training to rPMOs, Project Managers and Core Team Members, PDP Members, Functional Managers and BRD Review Members.

  • Provides coaching and mentoring for NPD team members in the execution of the BRDs for Pre-PD and PDPs to substantiate a viable business case including, but not limited to, identification of customer needs, market model, revenue forecasts, developing value propositions and global launch playbooks and evidence generation plans, etc.

  • Supports Continuous Improvement of business processes by reviewing feedback, prioritizing improvement opportunities and collaborating cross functionally to make identified improvements.

  • Captures and disseminates through training business process related ‘lessons learned’; benchmarks industry and shares best practices for continuous improvement and advises on adoption of those innovations as necessary including new tools and electronic systems.

  • Coaches and mentors Project Managers, Core Team Members, Functional Managers, Leadership Team members and Project Approval Board on business process execution, behaviors, and competencies.

  • Ensures maintenance of GPMO documentation and communication of GPMO business process best practices (e.g. SharePoint, structured BRD’s documentation, etc.)

  • Maintains / creates training documentation such as, quick reference guides, templates, guidance, on-boarding packages, and reference materials as needed.

  • Collaborates with global stakeholders to develop training profiles and manage training assignments.

  • Collaborates with regional Learning Technologies teams to assign and monitor training courses administered via the learning management system (LMS)

  • Ensures Medical Division new hires and re-hires have a training plan as required for their role

  • Other Essential Duties as directed to support the Portfolio Management team.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Technical Field. Equivalent job-related experience and knowledge in new product development will be considered.

  • Minimum of 10 years work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the medical device field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of successful demonstrated experience working on new product development (any function).

  • Position requires between 10 to 20% domestic and international travel.

  • This position will collaborate globally and will be required to attend meetings in the global meeting corridor (US-EU-JP).

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills with background and experience on project management principles / business case development, practices, techniques and tools.

  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and drive for results.

  • Effective at dealing with change and ambiguity as business needs shift, demonstrating flexibility while ensuring compliance and managing stress well.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable and adaptable presenting to different audiences and levels of the organization.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to operate effectively in a team environment.

  • Group facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.

  • Expert level of Microsoft Project and proficient in Excel, Power Point, Visio, and Word.

  • Experience working in a global organization across multiple cultures is a plus.

  • Training and instructional design experience is highly desirable.
