Improves business results by identifying opportunities, defining requirements, developing solutions and implementing sales recommendations within the Business Analysis processes. Promotes Business Analysis strategic thinking across retail, online and contract for existing and new processes and reports. Acts as key player in the identification of IT requirements necessary to support Business Analysis systems and solutions. Leads projects and people to implement solutions that optimize Business Analysis processes and analytics. Provides strategic analytical and application support for sales team in order to deliver and exceed division results across retail, online and contract. Presents analytical findings internally and to our partner Staples.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Thorough understanding of Syndicated data sources (IRI, AC Nielsen, NPD, Kantar) and Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Demonstrates advanced knowledge of these applications and acts as a resource expert to provide value-added insights. Has an understanding of retail, online and B-to-B tactics and processes. Incorporates competitive data and information into the business analysis function and integrates evolving retail, online and contract analytical needs into job expectations.
Accountable for communicating findings of analytical work and creating reports necessary to meet business objectives across the Retail, Online and Contract channels. Create PowerPoint slides detailing analytical insights and present to the customer in a professional manner. Responsible for managing significant fiduciary data from key retail accounts in a manner that protects the corporation.
Assists in creating new analytical processes to answer specific needs, such as promotional effectiveness, efficient item assortments, plano-gram optimization, external pricing studies, web productivity, new SKU or category performance or other requirements as needed. Responsible for sharing “Best Practices” with the key account team and colleagues. Coaches and mentors new key account associates as necessary.
Will need to learn and project a comprehensive understanding of retailer specific applications, such as Staples Partners and Staples Sales Portal. Seeks growth opportunities by identifying trends, making observations, and reporting findings in a manner that demonstrates significant understanding of consumer/business behavior, including analysis of sales driving behaviors. Creates complex reports in standard format as well as on an Ad Hoc basis. Leads projects through implementation and provides direction to sales teams. Partners with internal Staples resource to drive the 3M portfolio.
Provides application and process support through partnership with Business Analyst colleagues, IT, Division personnel, and business clients. Supports complex process and systems solutions through on-going analysis in order to meet the changing needs of customers, including systems interface to produce business solutions.
Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Experience in a business analyst role in a private, public, government or military environment
Experience in a project leadership role
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Math, IT, Finance, or Economics
Master’s degree and/or Master’s of Business Administration (MBA)
Applies advanced knowledge of Business Analysis principles to ensure that data analysis and interpretation support business needs and goals
Demonstrates advanced computer and database proficiency
Comprehensive knowledge of applicable software, including integrated applications such as Access. Superior knowledge and understanding of Business Analysis and Stationary & Office Supplies Business Unit.
Knowledge of retail, online and B to B operations.
Decision-making involves understanding business/customer needs, identifying problem areas, analyzing sales and marketing parameters and working with management to support business strategies and customer needs.
Utilize influencing skills to apply recommended strategic actions.
To solve most problems encountered in this position requires knowledge and application of Business Analysis methodologies.
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, project and planning and leadership skills
Location: Westborough, MA - Boston Area
Travel: May include up to 15% domestic
Relocation: Is authorized within country per 3M relocation policy
