The Amazon Robotics (AR) Technical Operations organization drives the manufacturing of high-quality robotics solutions that power Amazon's global operations across numerous facilities worldwide. We are seeking a talented and motivated Manufacturing Test Engineering Manager to lead a team of dynamic engineers developing next-generation test solutions for our robotic systems. We're looking for a leader who can drive innovation in manufacturing test automation, ensuring the quality and reliability of our electro-mechanical and industrial control products at scale. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across organizations while driving continuous improvement in our manufacturing test capabilities.
Key job responsibilities
Foster a culture of inclusion and technical excellence
Lead and manage a team of test engineers developing comprehensive test solutions for complex electro-mechanical systems and industrial automation products
Develop and maintain test technology roadmap aligned with product development pipeline
Drive test strategy development and implementation for NPI programs, focusing on automated test systems and industrial controls validation
Guide the team in creating and maintaining automated test platforms using industry-standard tools (TestStand/LabVIEW, Python, CODESYS)
Drive product design reviews and DfT (Design for Testability and serviceability) implementation with internal and external partners
Establish and maintain test specifications, procedures, and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies to ensure robust test coverage
Implement data-driven feedback mechanisms to continuously improve manufacturing test effectiveness, focusing on OEE, Defect Escape Rate, and other critical KPIs
Own test equipment budget and drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining quality standards
Manage relationships with external vendors and contract manufacturers for test equipment development and deployment
Up to 25% travel required

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (Master's preferred)
• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, with 5+ years in team management
• Proven experience with industrial automation, PLC systems, and motion control testing
• Strong background in automated test development and implementation
• Demonstrated expertise in test strategy development for complex electro-mechanical systems
• Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and quality management systems
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience
• Experience with robotics and automated assembly systems integration testing
• Track record of successful NPI launches in manufacturing environments
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (IOLink, EtherCAT) and PLC Software Development tools (CODESYS, RSLogix)
• Experience with cloud platforms, database, and test data analytics/visualization tools
• Familiar with industrial and machine safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508, ISO 10218)
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies
