Brandeis University Press (BUP) has an immediate full time vacancy for a well-organized and highly motivated individual to help with all aspects of running a university press. Based in Waltham, MA, the Assistant will be part of a small, friendly team working closely with authors, faculty, editorial, production and design, sales, distribution and marketing. Creating and maintaining BUP metadata at University of Chicago Press (UCP) Maintaining the BUP Wordpress website Maintaining records in BUP?s Title Management System Monitoring BUP presence on other websites Spearheading social media outreach Coordinating and maintaining editorial and production schedules Copywriting and proof reading as necessary for books and marketing materials Managing submissions, logging and following up on reader reports Submitting books for awards Involvement with marketing and publicity Providing material and support for sales meetings and other conferences Applying for CIP data Working with authors to prepare manuscripts and artwork for production Transmitting manuscripts to managing editor Logging royalty and contract information in databases Sending contracts and tax documents to authors for signature Dealing with and granting permissions Collaborate with other departments and act as liaison with authors Managing BUP?s intern and their day-to-day tasks General administrative duties including setting up and maintaining filing systems and keeping systematic records Additional duties as needed or required. This role requires extensive communication with acquisitions editors, authors, and colleagues in other departments Qualifications 1 ? 3 years of book publishing experience Bachelor?s degree required Excellent verbal and written communication skills Organized, detail-orientated, and efficient in time management Proficient with computer software in a Mac environment, proficient with Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat Must be able to work independently and proactively as well as part of a team.
