The “Strategic Planning and Accelerate Office” sets the pace and keeps executives and their teams on track to delivering excellence on an aggressive timeline. We work cross-functionally to remove roadblocks and share best practices. National Grid is looking for a Strategy Planning Manager with a balance of analytical discipline, creative thinking, and curiosity, to join our Strategic Planning and Accelerate Office team. As Strategic Planning Manager, you will develop a deep understanding of the global energy and utility industries, create winning and sustainable strategies to transform National Grid, and secure senior executive buy-in to strategic solutions. The successful candidate will have strong project management and analytical skills including the demonstrated ability to develop hypotheses; structure research and conduct analysis; and present well-supported conclusions and recommendations. Experience in strategy development or strategic planning (preferably in the energy and utility industries) is required.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Developing strategic plans for business units and National Grid USA

  • Support transformation initiatives

  • Effectively communicating findings and insights into the final recommendations and presentations for senior executives

  • Tracking trends in the energy and utility industries including policy, market, customer, competitors, and technology changes

  • Leading cross-functional projects/programs to drive strategic solutions

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics/Finance/Engineering with at least five years relevant work experience; Master’s/MBA degree a plus

  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Working understanding of the energy and electric and/or gas utility industries

  • Background in management consulting or strategy development a plus

  • Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels and across organizational boundaries

  • Impeccable personal standards of commitment and integrity
