Senior Medical Writer - Health Economic Modeling and Simulation

_Position Overview:_

We are looking for an experienced senior scientific/medical writer to join our health economic modelling and simulation team. The senior medical writer will be responsible for working in a collaborative role with the project lead and other project team members to develop the project deliverables.

_Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):_

The successful candidate will join our multi-disciplinary teams and provide expertise in scientific/medical writing. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the team with drafting sections of project deliverables (model protocols, analysis plans, technical reports, user guides to support the model, slide decks and materials to support summarizing and communication of the key findings (such as white papers, manuscripts)
  • Assist project team in developing slide decks in PowerPoint (e.g to communicate complex concepts, or key findings to our clients)
  • Independently writing fully-referenced content by editing, quality assurance, and formatting various project-related documents shared by the project team members
  • Developing visuals and graphics (e.g., in Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Collaboration and communication with the subject matter experts in the teams to plan, co-ordinate the preparation of various deliverables. Develop outlines, share drafts, help collate peer feedback and comments (from team or client) and assist with revising and finalizing the deliverables
  • Participate in client meetings and draft meeting minutes if requested
  • Assist with tracking budget and expenses and monitoring timelines and deliverables for projects when assigned
  • Support other "non-billable" activities as needed (e.g., assist with developing sections of proposals)

_Education, Professional Skills & Experience:_

  • 2-3 years experience with a consultancy, agency or pharmaceutical company in a technical or scientific medical writing role

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, health economics, or a clinical discipline is preferred, e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, MPH, MS. Experienced candidates with a BS/BA are also welcome to apply.

_Personal Skills & Competencies:_

The successful candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized self-starter who works well independently and on teams. Enthusiasm for a professional writing career and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Key competencies include:

  • Experience in technical, scientific medical writing with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Ability to produce reports, and slides which are well-organized, free from errors and are appropriately adjusted to the characteristics and needs of the audience
  • Ability to understand and clearly convey complex clinical, humanistic, or economic information, after receiving appropriate training on new content areas
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience with bibliographic referencing software
  • Familiarity with clinical trials and basic biomedical statistics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the project leads and project teams
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines, multiple tasks and relationships in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

It is helpful, but not essential, to have:

  • Prior experience of technical writing and development of materials related to health economics, cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses or outcomes research
