Location/Division Specific Information

This position is within the Pharma Services Group (PSG). PSG provides industry-leading pharma services solutions for drug development, clinical trial logistics and commercial manufacturing to customers through our Patheon brand.

You will be responsible for leading a high-performance analytics and insights team; performing data mining and data analysis; providing insights to inform marketing strategies and business decisions; and overseeing the analytical processes associated with the design, execution, and reporting of marketing initiatives and campaigns. You will drive innovation in analytics, insights, and measurement through close alignment with corporate and PSG teams, including marketing, sales, data science, and IT. You will anticipate and develop capabilities effectively to meet the accelerating demand for insights driven by our stakeholders and digital roadmap. You will collaborate effectively across the marketing organization and with stakeholders across the business, including the broader Commercial Operations organization.

A Day in the Life

  • Lead a team of analysts and/or data engineers; responsible for the life cycle management of this team, including selection, development, and retention

  • Measure effectiveness of marketing initiatives and deliver KPIs via Microsoft Power BI dashboards; focus areas include sales analysis, web analytics, paid media, and email; support team in using data and analytics to improve performance

  • Develop tools and methods to derive actionable strategic insights from various data sources, including our website, CRM, and third party vendors

  • Develop enhanced metrics and reporting as needed to support PSG Marketing team

  • Work closely across the company to identify and share best practices

  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives that help us market to customers better, including expansion of our marketing technology stack

  • Build and deploy models to predict specific customer behaviors (i.e., propensity to buy, likelihood to attrite) and inform the best conversion and user experience strategies

  • Collect and analyze disparate data sources to deliver a near-real-time, informed, insights-based view of marketing performance and enable data-driven prioritization and marketing mix allocation

  • Use analysis to make informed recommendations regarding segmentation and channel and content strategies that help us reach the right customers with the right message at the right time in the buyer journey

  • Manage data sets and data governance

  • Support a culture of learning and continuous improvement by identifying and actively participating in and leading process improvement and change management initiatives

  • Assist in the evaluation, selection and management of outside contractors or vendors that contribute to marketing program effectiveness

  • Adhere to timelines while working efficiently and closely with team members, leadership, data science/IT and key stakeholders

  • Exhibit outstanding presentation, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to inspire through persuasive presentation of information

Keys to Success

Education

  • BA or BS required

  • MBA or Master’s degree in quantitative field such as statistics, math, or business analytics preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • 7+ years of marketing analytics experience in a business-to-business setting

  • 4-5 years life sciences industry business experience preferred

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a complex, fast-paced matrix business environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentations to large, diverse audiences

  • Proven ability to lead and develop talented teams

  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), plus proficiency with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau

  • Solid expertise in change management and affinity for learning and sharing best practices

  • Excellent SQL programming skills and proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server; experience with R programming language

  • Hands-on statistical modeling experience

  • Proven ability to identify actionable strategic insights from large data sets

  • Experience with tools used for digital marketing analysis (e.g., Marketo or Eloqua, Adobe Analytics, Salesforce.com reports)

  • Some travel required (15% or less)
