We are seeking a highly strategic and technically adept Senior Business Development Manager to join the Purification business (PUR) within the Purification and Pharma Analytics (PPA) business unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of business development fundamentals, a deep technical background, and outstanding interpersonal skills to lead key customers and strategic R&D partnerships. This role is instrumental in identifying new market opportunities, shaping and implementing business strategies, fostering collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams, and delivering results to drive growth of our business in the bioproduction purification sector.
What Will You Do?
Identify adjacencies and new segments for PUR business to enter, including developing inorganic and partnership strategies to expand market reach
Conduct market analysis to assess customer needs, market dynamics and identify business opportunities.
Build and present cases that outline opportunities, value propositions, and execution plans.
Lead the implementation of business strategies to deliver solutions through cross-functional collaboration with Product Management, Research & Development, Commercial, Finance, Legal and other functions as needed
Drive negotiations and communications, as well as build and maintain relationships with strategic customers and external business partners
Scope detailed project plans for identified business opportunities; identify and secure resources for project execution, demonstrating influence with leadership as needed.
Responsible for the execution of project and business plans, resolving roadblocks, and ensuring project landmarks are met or exceeded.
Communicate project progress and outcomes to leadership, partners, and teams
Occasional domestic and international travel <25%
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
5+ years of professional experience in business development, market development, product management or related fields.
Bachelor's degree or higher in biological or chemical sciences, or equivalent experience; MBA is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Deep understanding of life science technologies and the biopharmaceutical /biotech industry
Expertise in downstream purification processes and preparative chromatography are strongly preferred
Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable business strategies and communicate them to leadership and team members
Experience in creating cases and business models
Proven track record of leading and influencing cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to achieve goals
Strong project management skills with the ability to lead projects in a multi-disciplinary and matrixed environment
Adept at market analysis and translating findings into a validated business plan
Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on meeting or exceeding project expectations
Excellent communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills required, proven ability to communicate ideas and recommendations at all levels in the organization, across functional and geographic boundaries.
