How you will get here

As Sr. Director, you will play an important part of the global communications function to build an integrated communications strategy to support our Specialty Diagnostics business, focused on improving patient health outcomes through innovative diagnosis and monitoring solutions for critical areas of clinical care. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Communications, you will be a trusted communications advisor to the business, serving as communications representative on the business leadership team, while collaborating with various business partners including finance, human resources, marketing and commercial, on business needs and opportunities.

What will you do

  • Partner with leadership to build continued awareness of Specialty Diagnostics and capabilities with customers, patients, media, government officials, potential talent, and local communities.

  • Develop a compelling narrative for the business to influence key audiences through impactful storylines.

  • Create thought leadership platforms for key executives.

  • Serve as a career development advocate for team members in the function and uses talent and capabilities to support both functional and business goals.

  • Deliver communications in more efficient, and effective ways by challenging current processes and recommending enhanced approaches, technical capabilities and communications standards.

  • Create performance indicators and processes that help us measure communications impact, campaign success, and transparency and reinforce our culture of achievement and accountability.

  • Ability to travel as needed.

How will you get here:

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or English preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years with multifaceted experience in integrated communications.

  • A blend of public relations, patient engagement, social media, employee communications, government relations, change communications, issues management and marketing communications experience.

  • Experience working across a matrixed organization and reaching diverse audiences is a plus.

  • Variety of relevant business experience which including being a quick study of a business, understanding the value-enablers, and relating to bottom-line impact, executive presence.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proactively identify and lead potential communication issues or crises, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership and successfully implementing appropriate response plans.

  • Candidate will have strong understanding and curiosity about science and technology with a shown ability to craft messages focused on high level benefits for our customers and patients.

  • Ability to influence business partners and facilitate alignment between business and corporate objectives.

  • Strength in hiring, mentoring & developing teams.

  • Collaborative open style, working in teams, strong written and oral communicator, strategic problem solver with ability to complete plans.

  • Proficient in MS Office tools, especially PowerPoint. MS SharePoint content creation /experience a strong plus.

  • Communicate clearly, concisely and efficiently in addition to strong writer, editor and storyteller and strong verbal communicator with excellent interpersonal and listening skills.

  • Business knowledge and intellectual curiosity to learn about business strategies, competitive landscape and scientific technologies.

  • Focused, organized and able to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $192,700.00–$289,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
