Lead Medical Editor, Editorial & Design Services
*We are looking to fill this role in the UK, EU, or US; remote or office locations

/The Editorial & Design Services (EDS) team is comprised of highly skilled medical editors and graphic designers, adding value to a variety of document types at each level of client engagement. Our experienced medical editors improve overall readability and ensure that a final deliverable is clean, accurate, easy to understand/follow, and impactful. Our expert graphic designers work with internal and external clients to transform complex scientific information into highly designed, meaningful imagery. _Position overview:_

The team is seeking a full-timeLead Medical Editorwith demonstrated editorial experience and ability. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an expert medical editor with a keen eye for detail
  • Work independently and as part of a team in dynamic and science-driven environment
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, and time management skillsto manage time, cost, and quality considerations for deliverables
  • Leverage industry knowledge and experience to contribute to quality measurement and attainment

_Essential Duties and Responsibilities:_

  • Demonstrates advanced level of technical and line editing
  • Copyedits low to high complexity internal and external deliverables, such as proposals, manuscripts, and other study documents, to meet or exceed quality standards
  • Utilizes expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to apply complex formatting to align with Evidera’s in-house style guide or client-specified guidelines
  • Manages time efficiently, provides feedback to improve process/delivery, ensuring timely delivery to customers
  • Leverages expert software knowledge to serve as resource for more complicated requests and troubleshooting exercises
  • Leads effective internal initiatives, in alignment with skill and level, as may be identified based on business needs
  • Supports and collaborates with teammates as appropriate, serving as an informal mentor to junior staff relative to key areas of skill and expertise. Assists in new hire onboarding and training
  • Applies basic principles of risk management
  • Works with internal clients to plan delivery of complex projects as the EDS representative
  • May be responsible for strategically triaging work as part of a triage team
  • Creates content for and leads info sessions for EDS team or broader Evidera organization on topics relevant to core areas of expertise (e.g., formatting, patient-level document editing)
  • Infrequent night/weekend work may be required

_Education, Professional Skills & Experience__ _

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) and 6 years of experience in medical editing, preferably in pharmaceutical or healthcare environment; or, advanced degree with 4 years of relevant editing experience
  • Relevant editing certification (e.g., BELS) is preferred

_Personal Skills & Competencies___

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team and provide leadership to deliverable review process
  • Demonstrates ability to work tight internal deadlines without sacrificing product quality, making informed decisions regarding competing priorities
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required to execute the responsibilities detailed in this posting
  • Experience with Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Adobe InDesign, and/or EndNote is a plus
