Thermo Fisher Scientific Investor Relations Manager in Waltham, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

The Manager, Investor Relations (IR) will play a pivotal role within the investor relations team by assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of investor programs, messaging and activities. The position is a high visibility role, reporting to the Vice President of Investor Relations and will regularly interface with senior management, Communications, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Corporate Development. The Manager, Investor Relations will assist the IR team with analyzing financial data and reports prepared by the sell-side investment community, assist with the management and creation of communications materials used in IR events, analyze and provide competitive intelligence to management, and assist with internal reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • External communication:

  • Assist in the preparation of conference call scripts, press releases and Q&A documents

  • Assist in the coordination, planning and execution of investor events, including conference presentations, company facility tours and trade show tours.

  • Create, refine, and maintain targeting methodology and intelligence systems to identify good-fit institutional investors.

  • Manage external consensus estimates process.

  • Conduct financial analysis of Thermo Fisher Scientific and peer companies.

  • Perform benchmarking of investor relations activity with other public companies.

  • Study the operational process and workflow within the department and recommend improvement.

  • Internal communication:

  • Collaborate with various internal teams, including Communications, Legal, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Corporate Development to support external communication.

  • Provide financial and analytical support to key senior management to support the company's IR initiatives.

  • Prepare timely and insightful analysis of the company's businesses, markets, competition and financial performance.

  • Generate and publish weekly report for senior management.

  • Participate in content development, design, and production of annual and quarterly reports.

  • Create and maintain company presentations for use at analyst and investor meetings.

  • Oversee and support IR website section and content.

  • Understand the company's strategies, operating units, technologies, and financial performance expectations.

  • Remain current on economic, political, regulatory, industry, and stock market outlook.

  • Remain current on changes in accounting, technology, and similar subjects.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, communications, or related field. MBA preferred.

  • Investor relations or relevant financial/communications background; minimum 5-7 years experience preferred

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial statement analysis.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to multi-task, ability to work independently.

  • Facilitates team-work while demonstrating strong leadership skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information and recognize when the utmost of discretion is required.

  • Exhibits highest ethical standards.

  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.

  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally (approx 10%).

  • High level of organizational skills with an attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, FactSet and Ipreo preferred but not required
