The Director supports the Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) Business Transformation Office (BTO) by delivering programs and projects with significant strategic impact to the long-term strategy. This key role is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of multiple transformation programs, facilitating teamwork across workstreams and providing thought leadership on cross-program interdependencies. The Director’s knowledge in professional program / project management and experience in leading large transformation programs will help build a top-performing organization

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Deliver a portfolio of ground-breaking programs through leadership of multiple projects simultaneously ensuring key achievements are met and benefits are achieved.

  • Facilitate the creation of project plans & timelines, operating mechanisms, dashboards, financial scorecards, and business cases for each project

  • Provide critical insights, identify critical interdependencies, scope overlap, risks/resource constraints, or additional opportunities and take necessary steps to communicate, eliminate barriers, and mitigate risks

  • Lead the evolution of the AIG BTO – chair BTO bi-weekly meetings, develop SOPs for progress and status reports, establish a cadence of updates to senior leadership, and support development of financial plans

  • Apply project management, analytical and decision support skills to drive cross-functional alignment

  • Be a change champion, leading the organization by supporting effective and consistent organizational change and communications efforts across projects

  • Work closely with external third parties to support analytics, validate hypotheses, identify and vocalize gaps, and offer internal Thermo Fisher perspective

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in business, life sciences, economics or other related field; Master’s degree preferred

  • 7+ years of meaningful professional experience, including broad-based experience in program or project management with 5+ years in a lead role

  • Experience with program management tools (e.g., Planview); professional certification in areas of expertise such as PMI/PPI/Lean Six Sigma a plus

  • Shown business intuition and its application to develop strategic recommendations that align with business goals

  • Influence across multiple levels in the organization and navigate a matrix work environment while building consensus internally and externally, including with senior executives

  • Ability to lead complexity and maintain relationships across partner groups
