Fresenius Medical Care North America Director Lead Architect- Mobile Platforms in Waltham, Massachusetts

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build a Team and a Center of Excellence (CoE) that provides the product implementation teams across CE with the guidance, standards, best practices, and integration strategies within the web application and mobile domains

  • Provide direct, daily leadership to the team, creating an innovative and collaborative culture

  • Operates both strategically and tactically in a leadership role with the ability to successfully deliver on individual contributor tasks (as required)

  • Own and drive the Architectural and Technology strategies in mobile domains that enable product development both in DSS and across all CE verticals (In-Center, Critical Care & Home)

  • Provide architecture solutions, leveraging common patterns and strategies, to address web application and mobile requirements -> including the ability to successfully run a common solution across heterogeneous platforms

  • Identify emerging technologies in the web application and mobile domains to support innovative, next generation solutions

  • Ensure technology obsolescence mitigation is accounted for in architecture roadmaps

  • Primary Representative for CoE in collaborative or alignment initiatives/discussion within CE / Member of the Architecture Review Board

  • Prioritize active and work required of the CoE, ensure proper allocation of resources, and forecast future demand

  • Identify patentable concepts to expand Fresenius Medical Care’s Intellectual Property portfolio

  • Set comprehensive standards, best practices, and policies that can be leveraged to develop and deliver product solutions targeting the web application and mobile spaces

  • Build Architecture and Technology roadmaps in the web application and mobile domains that articulate the short term (< 12 months) and long term (> 2 years)

  • Create documentation (white papers) that outline reference strategies and tactical approaches

  • Provide quarterly Executive Summary reports that provide visibility to the progress of our product strategy enablement in this domain (partnerships, active projects, opportunities)

  • Conduct market & industry assessments that baseline the connectivity & communication capabilities against competitive products

  • Establish a team and plan which successfully defines the roles and responsibilities of CoE members

  • This position requires approximately 10% to 25% travel based on the requirements of the project.

Education and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Advanced Degree preferred

  • Advanced degree in software or systems engineering, computer science

  • 15+ years of Software or Systems Engineering experience

  • 5+ years in an architecture lead role on a large-scale project dealing with internal and external integrations

  • 5+ years of leading teams of varying sizes in R&D or Information Technology

  • 5+ years of hands-on mobile application architecture experience; Front-End, Business Logic, and Data; Diverse experience in Native, Cross-Platform, Hybrid development a plus

  • Experience in establishing and maintaining technology and architecture roadmaps, specific domain of mobile technologies preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in all levels of systems integration: front-end, back-end middleware/services/APIs, and Data

  • Implementation of modern cybersecurity standards and best practices at the application and system levels; security for distributed systems and managed services

  • Working knowledge of medical software and systems; SaMD experience a plus
