Thermo Fisher Scientific Associate Director, Autoimmunity and Systems in Waltham, Massachusetts

Location/Division Specific Information:

The Immunodiagnostics Division (IDD) develops, manufactures and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. With 1,500 employees based in 25 countries worldwide IDD is the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics.

This position is remote with Portage, MI being the main office.

How will you make an impact?

You will manage a team that works in close coordination with the US Marketing Department, the Laboratory Sales Teams, and the Global Marketing Team to efficiently implement commercial programs crafted to drive sustainability and growth in the organization. You will be responsible for the development of the Autoimmunity and Systems marketing plans and for the growth of those product lines.

What will you do?

  • Lead the go-to-market plan for our autoimmune disease testing and our instruments to achieve the goals of the region, to include the development of the Autoimmunity and Systems Annual Marketing Plan, value propositions, and target customers.

  • Marketing Excellence - Design and implement marketing plans and support their subsequent execution to ensure a high level of output from the team.

  • Contribute to the hiring and training of marketing team professionals

  • Support STRAP, AOP, forecasts and business decisions with regard to Autoimmune testing and Systems with objective data, including conducting market, customer and competitive research, performing financial analysis and assimilating internal expertise/experience

  • Build successful working relationships and effectively manage the communication with a variety of internal stakeholders such as sales, regulatory, clinical affairs, and global marketing.

  • Manage and lead a team, seeing to their day-to-day job success and longer-term development

  • Inform about developments in the clinical/technical/scientific field and the market as they affect and apply to the Autoimmune testing portfolio roadmap.

How will you get here?


  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • MBA/MHA or other relevant advanced degree is a plus


  • Minimum 8 years of commercial experience combined in sales, marketing or similar; preferably with some of the experience in healthcare

  • Product Marketing, Diagnostics, and Leadership experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong Knowledge of Autoimmune Disease preferred

  • Strong communication (written and verbal)

  • Product Launch experience is a plus

  • Adhere to and demonstrate Thermo Fisher’s 4I values

  • 20% average travel required – will ebb and flow based on the needs of the business
