    Leidos Security Detection and Automation (SD&A), Tewksbury, MA is seeking an entry-level Technical Writer for developing, updating, and rebranding technical documentation using Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Word.

    The candidate will be responsible for updating existing technical documents and assisting in the creation of manuals to support new products. Duties include collaborating with functional managers and subject matter experts to ensure that documents reflect current best practices and processes, ensuring documents meet editorial and governmental specifications, and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, format and style.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Update and rebrand existing technical documentation based on Engineering Changes Orders (ECOs)

  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements

  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation

  • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success

Basic Qualifications

  • Education, Experience, Certification: Bachelors’ degree in a Technical field preferred; Equivalent education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • 2 - 4 years’ experience as an effective Technical Writer, preferably in a technology-based company

  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences

  • Working knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker a plus

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail

  • Ability to communicate with all departments, including production, engineering, software developers, technical trainers, and all levels of management

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications


  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization

  • Experience with airport checked baggage and checkpoint security equipment
