The following position is to join our RTX Corporate team:

The Corporate Legal, Contracts, & Compliance team is seeking a Legal Operations professional to assist with creating and managing value-based fee arrangements with law firms and vendors, as well as implementing a metrics program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Legal, Contracts, & Compliance Corporate functions and business units to maintain and identify areas of improvement for consolidated fee arrangements, as well as ensure the stakeholders for such arrangements are kept informed of utilization. This role requires constant collaboration with in-house attorneys, paralegals, non-legal professionals, supply chain, billing coordinators, government accounting, law firms, and vendors. This role will work closely with the business units on reporting metrics, creating streamlined processes, and developing training to follow Outside Counsel Engagement processes.

What You Will Do

  • Serving as the Subject Matter Expert, champion, and trainer on alternative fee (value-based) arrangements

  • Developing, analyzing, and communicating metrics on portfolios, alternative fee arrangements, and legal spend; support audits as necessary

  • Providing creative thinking to help identify and develop cutting-edge strategies for increasing value and reducing outside legal spend while maintaining the high level of legal representation expect

  • Addressing Outside Counsel, vendor, and RTX attorney/in-house support inquiries related fee arrangements

  • Preparing competitive Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Statement of Work (SOW), analyzing data, and presenting a best value source selection to relevant stakeholders

  • Leading rate negotiations with law firms that follows RTX rate adjustment guidance; ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned with the rates

  • Assuming responsibility for receiving, addressing, receiving stakeholder approval, and documenting conflict waiver requests from law firms

  • Serving as the escalation point for law firm and legal vendor billing concerns

  • Owning the process to properly review, approve, and onboard new law firms

  • Organizing and managing the Legal, Contracts, & Compliance subscriptions and legal services

  • Assisting in-house lawyers and professionals on process improvement and standardization initiatives

  • Up to 15% travel with most trips to be to Tewksbury, MA or Farmington, CT

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of relevant experience

  • Proven capability of analyzing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and future projections along with advanced knowledge of MS Excel

  • Track record of leading with data and implementing a metrics program

  • Ability to work with a cross functional team to drive enhancements and issues to closure

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate with internal stakeholders and external parties on requirements, costs, and agreement terms

  • Experience leading RFPs with legal service providers and law firms

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate with various groups within Legal, Contracts, & Compliance, Outside Counsel, and vendors

  • Strong preference for candidates that have a Legal Operations background in a similar outside counsel engagement role

  • Desire for candidates to have an intermediate to advanced understanding of Thompson Reuters Legal Tracker matter management system or other legal matter management system

  • Experience with utilizing AI tools in a legal operations framework

  • Advanced expertise with PowerBI

  • Juris Doctor or experience working in a law firm is a plus but not required

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader. A deviation to work remotely would be considered for the candidate that meets all criteria.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
