Field and Safety Instruments (FSI) is a new business within Thermo Fisher that was established in 2017 by the merger of two legacy businesses. FSI is the leader in handheld spectrometers for a wide range of applications across industrial, life science manufacturing, safety/security, nuclear power, and healthcare markets. Join our team as a Product Manager for our Niton Handheld XRF product lines.
Do you have experience as a Product Manager or Marketing Manager in a B2B environment? In this role, you will drive product revenue and profit growth by assessing and understanding customer needs, developing business cases based on market insights and growth targets, providing a commercial perspective to internal teams, communicating product development plans with sales teams, and executing on new product launches. What will you do?
Identifies overall vision for handheld XRF product family. Owns short-term and long-term product roadmap. Manages product launch plans, product pricing, product positioning, customer value proposition, forecasting and channel strategies.
Familiar with phase/stage gate process & financial modeling. Understands financial and business terms and fundamentals. Applies business and financial acumen to strategic planning, business case creation, ROI analysis, financial modeling, project prioritization and external negotiations.
Effectively communicates product & portfolio information to key stakeholders. Proactively engages key stakeholders to develop and execute timely communications and deliverables that meet business and marketing goals.
Builds customer rapport and interaction. Actively uses VOC to drive innovation pipeline.
Gathers, analyzes and interprets market data. Monitors competitive activity and develops winning strategies for new and existing products. Understands market dynamics, including customer segments and regional needs.
Provides product-specific technical and marketing support to field sales organizations and channel partners
Drives profitability & revenue growth through sales opportunity pipeline development and proactive portfolio lifecycle management. Utilized market and performance data to optimize profit and drive growth for in-market product portfolio including extending application usage, pricing & discounting strategies.
Applies technical and domain knowledge to provide training and sales support; Works with Marketing, Sales management and other resources to provide product line training and support.
How will you get here?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical/engineering discipline; Mechanical, Materials or Chemical Engineering
MBA highly desirable
5+ years experience as a Product Manager or other Marketing experience
Understanding of Industrial / Metals Market space.
Handheld XRF experience desirable
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Execution oriented and able to drive projects to completion
Comfortable working with highly technical scientists and engineers as well as customers
Knows how to convert market intelligence into value-added features and products
Able to lead cross-functionally to accelerate new product development
Capable of researching industries, applications, customers, and market trends to be able to draw meaningful conclusions towards business case development
Willingness to travel – up to 30%
