IQE Director of Business Development- Wireless Business Unit in Taunton, Massachusetts

This position offers the opportunity to help shape the future of a leading-edge company focusing on semiconductor material solutions. IQE has been in business for 30 years and is a recognized global leader in compound semiconductor wafers, or epiwafers. These epiwafers have fueled the proliferation of wireless communication systems and remain integral to innovation in wireless systems. The Director of Business Development will help us explore and penetrate wireless markets for wide bandgap semiconductors such Gallium Nitride (GaN). The successful candidate will represent IQE with major customers, collaborators, strategic partners, funding agencies, and policymakers to further IQE’s position, acting as a key external face of the Wireless Business Unit (WBU).

To be a good fit for this opportunity, one must have a BS degree or higher in Engineering, Applied Science, or a relevant field, and experience managing sales and marketing plans and establishing customer relationships. We're looking for a leader with a successful track record of influencing decision-makers and securing new business. The successful candidate will have the entrepreneurial spirit necessary to recognize market opportunities and the ability to collaborate as needed to drive these opportunities to revenue.

Position Responsibilities:

· Business development – Identify and evaluate emerging GaN market trends and new opportunities in key sectors, define and implement strategies enabling IQE to address these needs.

· Account management – Customer retention and growth is vitally important. Account management duties may include responsibility for geographically-assigned international sales representatives.

· Market research – Maintain detailed global market analysis (size, products, technologies, trends, players, drivers) for IQE GaN and develop / execute strategies for profitable growth in selected areas.

· External promotions – Help produce external marketing materials to raise the profile of the business in target markets.

· Collaboration – An integral element of this role is to ensure sound intra-IQE linkages are established with Technology, Operations, Procurement, and Quality to create a seamless BU that leverages global, corporate strengths and complements all IQE functions and locations.

· Financial acumen – Good understanding of P&L, ability to create budgets, interpret balance sheets, and generate financial analyses.

· Networking – Able to develop, maintain, and grow professional business associations.

· Communication skills – Able to represent WBU internally and externally, including frequent customer-facing events, with confidence and inspiration. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills. Outstanding presentation skills, ability to relate to multiple organizational levels and tailor approach to the audience.

· Initiative – This is a “hands-on” role that should provide guidance and direction to the business. A self-starter will flourish.

Education:

BS or higher in Engineering, Applied Science, or a relevant field

Experience / Qualifications:

· 10+ years in a customer-facing role in semiconductors, microelectronics, or RF / wireless

· Knowledge of macrotrends driving wireless markets, trends, technologies

· Knowledge of GaN materials, devices, and/or wireless applications is a strong plus

· Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software platforms is a plus

· Up to 25% travel, domestic and international
