Job Description:

The Seafood Business Development Manager position will perform the following duties:

  • Drives profitable seafood (fresh/frozen, shellfish, finfish, groundfish, etc.) street sales growth.

  • Interacts with customers, vendors and Sales Force in a friendly, timely and quality manner.

  • Ensures all questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner

  • Consults with Company personnel regarding customer requests, product specifications, quality and other issues as necessary.

  • Sells all seafood categories

  • Responds to sales and customer service requests and inquiries

  • Works with Procurement to keep customers/sales force up to date on seasonal items availability

  • Works with procurement to sell off overstocked products

  • Establishes customer base to ensure the Seafood category grows to plan expectation

  • Monitor seafood markets to maximize profit and sales.

  • Ensure delivery of seafood products to customers to meet acceptable customer expectations

  • Maintains and grows business with customers.

  • Prospects for and sells new customers.

  • Ensure delivery of products to customers to meet acceptable customer expectations

  • Maintains relationships with procurement.

  • Implements new sales programs and strategies to increase seafood sales

  • Is responsible for developing and achieving an annual business plan in conjunction with manager.

  • Determines pricing strategies at appropriate profit margin levels

  • Monitors the competition

  • Communicate with customers and personnel regarding process issues.

  • Maintains a strong working product knowledge, current product literature, and selling skills.

  • Informs management continually of current market conditions and competitive changes in the marketplace.

  • Participates in branch sales meetings, seminars, and other designated meetings.

  • Reviews market analysis to determine customer needs, volume potential, pricing and develops sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company.

  • Promotes and sells Preferred Vendor Programs to maximize optimum profitability.

  • Promotes and sells Corporate Brands.

  • Submits required reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Reports to the Vice President of Business Development.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of one year of volume seafood buying experience is required.

A minimum of one year seafood selling experience is required.

Strong critical thinking/analytical skills and the ability to handle multiple changing priorities.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Ability to work on the road with the sales force and present in front of customers.

High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred.
