Position Summary:

The Head of MMLIS DC Product Management will manage the Defined Contribution product offerings available in distribution through the MassMutual Life Investor Services investment advisor “MMLIS”. In this role, the leader will be responsible for researching, recommending and presenting defined contribution product offerings to the MMLIS Investment Product Committee for formal approval. Product offerings include but are not limited to the following types of group plans such as 401(K), 403(b), 457, DB, MPP, NQDC and PS. This positions will review recordkeeper offerings in different market sizes ranging from Micro, Emerging, Small, Mid and Large. The positions will also reveiw investment platform details and key differentiators among recordkeepers including their service delivery model of bundled versus unbundled. In addition, in order to give plan sponsor clients and additional layer of fiduciary protection - this position coordinates 3(38) investment management or 3(21)investment support offerings for the field including available recordkeepers and cost matrices. A 3(38) offering would allow MMLIS to assume the responsibility for retirment plan management, taking the fiduciary burden off of plan sponsors and allowing the field more time to serve clients and expand their business. a 3(21) turnkey offering provides the investment support of fidcuiary plan services with the need to streamline and facilitate the entire oversight process. Experience in product management, service enhancements, system coordination and the drive to improve productivity are key. Attention to detail and the ability to problem solve, collaborate and manage projects to successful implementation are critical for success in this role. You also deal directly with Field issues and requests.

Key activities of this role include:

Solution onboarding and implementation: defining an issue, developing a policy to address the issue, obtaining approval from MMLIS Policy Committee and Field Leadership and then taking that solution to MMLIS product vendors

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership to address key strategic product solution issues and opportunities, working in collaboration across multiple functions and channels

Build effective business partnerships and relationships with senior leaders across the firm

Present recommendations to Executive Management

Participate in industry organization working groups Qualifications:

The position requires keen strategic thinking and analytical skills, outstanding project management experience, excellent time management skills, team and leadership skills with a pragmatic results orientation.

Specifically, candidates should have and be able to demonstrate:

MBA or relevant Master’s degree plus 6-8 years’ experience post-degree in management consulting, and/or strategic business development preferably in financial services OR Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years’ experience in the same areas

FINRA series 7, 66 & 24 (required or must obtain after hire) Industry designations or in pursuit of a plus

Product management experience with relevant products for the position along with the ability to pass on the best practices

Problem solving skills that enable efficient identification of issues, structuring and execution of analysis, development of actionable recommendations and implantation of those recommendations

Strong communication skills – both oral and written – and a strong executive presence

Strong understanding of and experience in driving change in an organization

Ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Strong team work, leadership and interpersonal skills
