CITY of SOMERVILLE Youth & Family Resource Navigator in Somerville, Massachusetts
The SomerPromise Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to assist Somerville families in navigating the various supports designed to ensure successful outcomes for children. This position requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability to build relationships with families. Statement of Duties The SomerPromise Youth and Family Resource Navigator supports equitable access to Somerville Hub Connect, a Single Point of Entry (SPE) platform for Somerville families and providers. This platform allows for one stop shopping for programs aimed at meeting the needs of children and families from cradle to career. The SomerPromise Youth and Family Resource Navigator is uniquely situated to serve as technical support for families that are utilizing the Somerville Hub Connect website as well as providing direct support to walk-ins and those not able to access the site electronically. The work will also include strengthening relationships with community partners and providing training to outside staff interested in utilizing the site as a resource and referral tool in their agencies. The work is a key piece of Somerville\'s commitment to collective impact, and will involve close collaboration with several stakeholders from the Schools, City and Community, including the Somerville Partnership for Young Children (SPYC) and the Somerville Family Learning Collaborative (SFLC). The position is housed with the SomerPromise Division of the City of Somerville\'s Department of Health and Human Services. Reports to: Wraparound Services Manager Essiential Duties Assist families and community partners to access resources through the Hub. Utilize the Hub to track referrals and maintain updated client profiles. Community Facing Assist families and students with program registration (online and in person). Develop, and implement outreach efforts for the Hub, with an emphasis on reaching families not yet connected to resources or programs and local stakeholders.. Facilitate trainings/meetings, participate in platform development meetings, and support SomerPromise initiatives as needed. Represent SomerPromise and Somerville Hub Connect at fairs and community events. Provide wraparound supports to families with children enrolled in Early Childhood Education and Out of School Time settings Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Undergraduate degree in a related field (or 5 years related experience) Special Requirements: Multi-lingual English, Spanish, and Portuguese required (written and spoken) Experience/Knowledge/Abilities: Ability to synthesize information from a variety of stakeholder groups to provide solutions in a final product Ability to alter approach and methodology in response to the individual needs of clients and families Experience working across sectors, programs and/or municipal departments Experience working directly with families from diverse cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds Excellent planning and organizational skills Relevant work experience in a diverse, urban setting Familiarity with website design and functionality Experience with Microsoft Office, Access and data entry Familiarity with registration databases Preference for candidates with knowledge of early care settings/comprehensive services/wrap around
