This person will join a team of communications professionals at EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). The Communications team leverages a variety of communications tactics and strategies to tell the company’s story and promote EBSCO products and services. These tactics include, but are not limited to, public relations, social media, paid media, and company-owned blogs. The Specialist will be educated on the information research marketplace, as well as EBSCO products and services.
Public relations responsibilities include supporting product launches and raising brand awareness by working with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to write press release announcements and uncover thought leadership opportunities. The Specialist will pitch news to key media outlets, use public relations tools to create media lists, identify editorial opportunities and uncover appropriate contacts for pitching.
Blog and social media responsibilities include working with market managers during planning periods to create and edit thoughtful and tactical content, then post on owned sites. The specialist will also be responsible for executing paid social media campaigns through LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, and conduct social listening across channels. The specialist will utilize a social media scheduling and analytics tool to post content, report on social media campaigns, and provide insight on campaigns.
This person will report to the Communications Director and work with other departments as needed on matters related to company reputation, internal communications, and crisis communications. The Communications team sits within the Marketing Department and serves in an advisory role, working with Marketing members worldwide, in collaboration with product and sales groups, on implementing campaigns.
Schedule and post social media and blog content on EBSCO-owned channels
Provide reports and statistics for EBSCO-owned blogs and social media campaigns
Create media lists for new target audiences
Draft EBSCO announcements/press releases, talking points, and editorial articles
Coordinate media outreach for various EBSCO announcements
Monitor media coverage for EBSCO/competitor mentions
Distribute press releases over news distribution platform and pitch to media contacts.
Create thoughtful and strategic social media campaigns
Execute paid social media campaigns
Edit, review, and schedule social media posts
Monitor social media sites for EBSCO/competitor mentions
Draft content for EBSCO-owned social media channels
Draft, review, and schedule blog posts for company blogs
5+ years of communications and/or public relations experience
Bachelor’s degree required (Communications or Journalism majors preferred)
Working knowledge of social media channels and platforms
Solid verbal and written communication skills, including writing for the web, social media messages, and press releases
Paid social/digital media experience
PR agency experience
Government relations/public affairs experience
Detail-oriented and efficient, with strong organizational skills
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
Awareness of current social media and PR trends and competitive intelligence techniques
Experience with media relations databases such as Cision, and social media tools such as Sprout Social
Basic knowledge of Photoshop
Target Annual Salary Range: $57,170 - 81,670
