The Executive Managing Editor will be responsible for leading a team of Senior Managing Editors, Managing Editors, and Associate Managing Editors for DynaMed and its related products. The Executive Managing Editor will function as part of the senior leadership team regarding core editorial functions and priorities, team capacity, and strategy and development for DynaMed and its related products. The Executive Managing Editor will be a vital participant in achieving DynaMed’s mission of providing the most useful information to health care professionals at the point-of-care. The mission will be accomplished through critical analysis of published research and application of clinical knowledge. Work will be conducted as part of the DynaMed Editorial Team.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the work of Senior Managing Editors, Managing Editors, and Associate Managing Editors in relation to their respective editorial teams, including operational, functional, editorial and personnel management.
Perform ongoing performance appraisals including informal feedback and formal written reviews
Recruiting, interviewing and hiring of new editorial team members, including managers
Participate in ongoing product quality assurance
Other duties as assigned by EIC, including special projects and new product development
Required Qualifications
Advanced degree in related field (may substitute 2 years of related experience)
Clinical license in good standing required if applicable
5 years editing experience including editing documents produced by other writers, training, and feedback
7 years writing experience related to medical or scientific content
2 years of personnel management experience
Ability to perform editorial functions sufficient to fill responsibilities of Managing Editor
2 years of experience with MS Office Suite including Word (with use of track changes) and Excel
