DePuy Synthes, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for Director, Digital Platform Solutions to be located in Providence, RI (candidates can be temporarily based in Raynham, MA but eventual location will be Providence, RI upon completion of new office).

The Digital Platform Center of Excellence is a new Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices initiative intended to build the digital platform portfolio for the Medical Devices Sector. This will be accomplished by building dedicated engineering teams to deliver critical platforms. The team will be primarily located in Providence, RI – which offers significant opportunity to leverage relevant skills and capabilities in the local and surrounding markets as well as J&J’s established footprint in Providence. This role will report to the Vice President of Digital Solutions, who is tasked with developing, integrating and launching digital solutions across the patient continuum.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strong leadership within Digital Solutions team and within wider Digital Platform to drive robust and customer focused technology enabled offerings,
Anchored in deep understanding of customer requirements, lead a team responsible for developing customer use cases, user experiences and technology requirements
Bring a systems engineering and software solutions perspective to create configurable customer solutions and applications in the patient continuum – these solutions must be anchored in good user experience (UX) design.
Collaborate very closely with R&D, Marketing, HEMA, Epidemiology, IT, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to develop robust digital solutions anchored in good user input, rigorous design, testing and user validation.
Partner strongly with technology leads, data science and enterprise IT teams to define infrastructure, capability and technology requirements for integrated digital solutions.
Strong mentorship skills to train other individuals in rapid prototyping and developing robust functional testing strategies for digital solutions line.
Conduct new technology evaluation and feasibility studies. Generate IP strategies and portfolio.
Influence the growth and development of an organization with the right talent and capabilities to execute strongly – be adept at identifying and working with external partners.
Be very comfortable working with internal and external entities to develop common platform and components. Significant leadership through influence, collaboration and leading by example will be required.
Provide progress updates to key R&D and other business stakeholders on a regular and as needed basis.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
A minimum of 12 years of experience within one of the following areas is required: Medical Device Research & Development, Healthcare or Healthcare Technology environment.
Previous regulated industry experience is required.
Previous experience leading the development of customer applications in software, firmware, web and mobile enabled applications is required.
Experience with and knowledge of hardware and systems integration is required.
Prior experience leading teams that have launched products & solutions into market is required.
Strong experience and knowledge of Agile software methodology and Agile software process is required.
Previous experience in a healthcare role that involved in IoT and cloud enabled solutions is preferred.
Strong experience with and/or leading teams focused on software design and testing including validation is required.
Prior experience with software as a medical device and strong knowledge of medical device product development requirements is highly preferred.
Demonstrated success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment is required.
The ability to leverage relations with key constituents to deliver tangible results and clinical insights is required.
The ability to actively develop or mentor talent to achieve results is necessary. Prior experience managing or building a team is required as this position will have direct reports.
This position will be based in Providence, RI (candidates can be temporarily based in Raynham, MA but eventual location will be Providence, RI upon completion of new office). Position will also include up to 25% travel depending on business needs.
