Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will design, create and deliver whole product documentation sets and/or related courseware. Edit, organize and direct the work activities of other technical writers and staff. Plan the format, arrange the layout of publications and edit work for conformance to publication standards and specifications.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

The Physical Networking group has an opening for a Senior Technical Writer. You will write/revise technical documentation and own the documentation for the Physical Networking Corrective Action Preventive Action program. Excellent writing and research skills, the ability to grapple with and master difficult source material, and the flexibility to manage changing deadlines and priorities are essential.
You must be able to write for a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge (such as software/network engineers, architects, and business stakeholders). You must have the proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment to resolve problems, and create high-quality work.
As a member of the technical writing team, you will:
Research and understand the documentation needs of the Physical Networking organization. Provide documentation design based on your understanding of these needs and the needs of our stakeholders.
Organize and prepare information for publication and develop publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter.
Drive internal documentation and take an active role in designing our internal documentation.
Drive the documentation and ownership with the teams for our Correct Action Preventive Action program.
Verify documentation through hands-on testing as appropriate.
Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures
Qualifications and experience:
Possess a college degree in a related field such as English, Technical Communications, Engineering, or Computer Science.
4-9 years of technical writing experience.
Experience with Agile methodologies
Excellent command of U.S. English (understanding, speaking, and writing)
Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills.
Ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Proven ability to write conceptual, task-oriented, and reference documentation with equal facility.
Experience interpreting technical specifications, user stories, configuration files, code, and other technical documents as source material.
Proven ability to learn new products and technologies and to grasp technical material.
Experience with standard office and documentation tools, including Microsoft Office 2010 or later (Required); Oxygen XML Author, or a similar XML editor (Preferred); SDL Content Management System (Preferred); Adobe FrameMaker (experience with Structured FrameMaker a plus); Camtasia; and RoboHelp; as well as documentation preparation delivery mechanisms (e.g., online Help, Web help, PDFs, HTML, etc.).
Experience with Atlassian tools, specifically Confluence and Jira is a plus.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Possess good planning, estimation, and organization skills.
Ability to work independently and possess good judgment, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit.
Ability to work with cross-functional global teams, including engineers, peers, and architects in remote locations and in various methods (phone, email, web conferencing).
Ability to work on multiple deliverables for multiple products simultaneously and under time constraints.
Ability to work in a collaborative group setting
