Oracle Technical Editor - Curriculum Development - NetSuite in Quincy, Massachusetts
Develops courseware to support new and existing products, often though not exclusively in conjunction with Product Division.
Coordinate and evaluate development contributions from other courseware development team members. Develop certification questions for use in the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) exams. Solicit & incorporate feedback from reviews and training events. Deliver training at train-the-trainer and pilot events.
Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. May have project lead role. Bachelor*s Degree in Computer Science or Instructional Design. Four years adult education experience (as teacher or curriculum developer). Seven years technical or professional experience using Oracle products or related software. Strong SQL and PL/SQL knowledge and experience. Knowledge of XML, Java, and J2EE technologies. Experience with Oracle9i Database administration. Knowledge of Oracle9i Application server.

The Technical Editor has superior language proficiency required for maintaining and enhancing the quality of Education Services deliverables. The core responsibility involves editing all NetSuite training materials to ensure they meet the requirements of standard English and conform to NetSuite writing standards. The Technical Editor has superior organizational skills to support editorial productivity as well as the ability to manage the editorial processes and workload. The Technical Editor is also skilled at training and coaching organization members, especially new employees, on writing standards and grammatical and terminological accuracy. The role of the Technical Editor also includes maintaining and updating organizational writing standards, including proposing improvements.
The Technical Editor should be familiar with technical and business process concepts that are embedded in the training curriculum to be edited.
Edit technical and business process curriculum for adherence to industry writing standards, grammatical accuracy and correct terminology.
Maintain and update Curriculum Development content writing standards and guidelines.
Train and coach Curriculum Developers on writing standards.
Manage editorial workload with minimal supervision
Desired experience includes:
Written and verbal English language proficiency.
5 or more years experience editing technical and business process content, including training curriculum, for adherence to industry writing standards, grammatical accuracy and correct terminology.
Solid knowledge of technical and business process concepts to enhance editorial accuracy and velocity.
5 or more years experience maintaining and teaching writing standards in a technical environment
5 or more years experience completing editorial projects at industry-standard productivity levels.
Extensive experience coaching Content/Curriculum Developers through developmental editing and feedback.
Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Cisco WebEx or other virtual learning tools.
Experience using Adobe Captivate and other curriculum development or multi-media tools a plus.
