Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Development and Management, this leadership position will be responsible for the Strategy, Development, Implementation and Management of the commercial (under 65) medical product portfolio, including HMO, POS, HMO New England, POS New England, PPO and Indemnity products. These products support the Merged Market (consumer and group <50), the Massachusetts Health Connector, the Middle Market (51-100), and the large group (100+) market. This Director will champion and lead our New England Product strategy in collaboration with leaders across all six New England Blues Plans, and will oversee the regional inter-plan structure to set and execute the ongoing strategy for this program.
Provide direction and oversight of the core medical product initiatives while monitoring market performance to ensure strategic goals
Building and marketing actionable product and benefit plans that are both innovative and cost-effective while focused on providing exceptional consumer experiences
Developing, managing and expanding upon both emerging and in-flight program offerings that highlight BCBSMA’s leadership in local and national markets
Secure support of strategic approach by market segment leaders, senior leadership and key business areas
Develop, manage and expand emerging or in-flight program offerings that highlight BCBSMA’s leadership in local and national markets
Represent product interests in corporate ACA and healthcare reform initiative work groups
Support cross-functional annual planning and implementation processes to meet regulatory deliverables for products in all market segments, including the Merged Market EHB and Actuarial Value requirements
Partner with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association as needed to ensure national programs are developed with regard for local, regional and national interests through coordination of inter-plan initiatives with appropriate business areas
Work with the Director of Product Marketing to set strategic marketing plans, including promotion and multi-channel outreach for product launches, collateral and direct mail activities
Exhibiting effective cross-functional project management and leadership
Develop business cases and advocate for corporate funding, IT support and resources for projects needed to support portfolio development and enhancements
Develop and mentor assigned direct reports (5ppl), monitor individual performance and deliver quarterly and annual performance reviews
Strategic thinker who strives to innovate and improve; devise new approaches for solving problems and developing strategies for the future
Ability to read, analyze and interpret contracts, regulations, common policies and procedures, reports, and legal documents
Effectively communicate both internally and externally and at all levels of the organization

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
Possess 7-10 years of relevant industry and/or product development experience within a leadership capacity
