Assistant Technical Director/St. Germain Crew Chief Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking an Assistant Technical Director to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. This position assists the Technical Director in overseeing all the scenic needs throughout the season for productions on our Boyd-Quinson Stage and St Germain Stage. This position requires a driven and passionate professional with strong communication and organizational skills, a working knowledge of scenic creation techniques, computer drafting programs, and a working knowledge of shop tools and maintenance. Responsibilities: Assist in the management of the Stage Crew and Crew Chiefs to provide scenic support for all productions and events throughout the BSC 2025 season Maintain accurate and up-to-date paperwork for each production including technical draftings Consult with Technical Director and creative teams to best meet the needs of the production and create accurate cost estimates of labor, materials, and rental costs during pre-production to remain within budget Maintain a safe working environment in all production areas. Help coordinate and manage the load-in and out of scenic elements including supervising the stage crew and any overhire staff needed Assist in the maintenance of equipment and inventory, inclusive of building infrastructure, and suggest improvements as needed. Organize and maintain rigging and scenic materials Create load-in schedules in conjunction with the other supervisors in the Production Department. Train run crew in any scenic moves or changes as necessary Provide rehearsal support as needed. Attend rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and production meetings as needed, and respond to notes given throughout the rehearsal process Assist the Technical Director in accurately tracking expenses and providing expenditure reports Attend every technical rehearsal and performance for St. Germain Shows as assigned Work with stage management to organize offstage storage of props and scenery and to develop shift plots for moving scenery and props during the performance for the St. Germain as assigned Ensure stage and backstage areas are swept, mopped, and cleaned before each rehearsal and performance for shows as assigned Notify Stage Management, Technical Directors, and Props Supervisors of any broken scenery or props and execute emergency repairs of props and scenery during the run of the show. Coordinate any additional repair needs with relevant departments for shows as assigned Keep paperwork up to date by noting any changes to presets or run lists by the Stage Crew, and provide Stage Management with updates for shows as assigned Assist with the daily post-show cleanup for shows as assigned Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills Extensive experience with counterweight fly systems and rigging Knowledge of theatrical production process Extensive and high-quality drafting skills Candidates should have solid hands-on carpentry skills. Experience with welding is helpful. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, comfortable working at heights, and have good eyesight in low light conditions Excellent time management skills Proficient with Vectorworks/AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Driver\'s License required Contract A: 5/12/2025 through 9/ 1/2025
