Position Summary Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Manufacturing Engineer will be involved in all stages of the sales process and is responsible for providing value engineering solutions from sales to shipment. They are responsible for developing estimates, coordinating bid documents, providing design input and proposing process layouts. As a member of the engineering team, they will provide solutions for customer applications and will help carry customer orders through to production. They will provide support on cross-functional teams focused on sustaining and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that lead to manufacturing efficiencies reducing costs and improving productivity while maintaining quality compliance. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Acts as key-technical and sales contact for customers regarding quoting, product development or applications. Assists sales team proactively pursuing and following-up on leads and engaging in upselling. Communicates customer needs across multiple departments including Operations, Quality, Engineering and Management. Analyzes engineering models/drawings to define the sequence of manufacturing operations to ensure that the design intent and component quality can be achieved. Proposes design changes to improve manufacturability. Leads or participates in projects on the basis of customer inquiries. Creates cost estimates with appropriate process routing gathering internal and external costs. Utilizes the production schedule to determine lead times. Works with outside vendors to develop new processes or improve existing processes. Proposes solutions to reduce cost and/or improve quality. Supports Quality Department in resolving internal and external complaints. Engages in continuous improvement activities to enhance existing processes. Works cross functionally with the Swiss Machining team to support and improve machining processes. Actively participates in team meetings to include partnering with customers. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline or in science or equivalent experience. Minimum of 4 years of experience in a machining and/or manufacturing production environment. Project management, product management, engineering, or production experience preferred. Proficient in blueprint reading and working knowledge of GD&T. Computer proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office software. Previous experience with ERP software (Global Shop preferred). Experience using CAD / CAM software. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles. A self-starter with the ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated, results oriented and problem solver. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT This position requires access to information or technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and/or other US government security regulations.
