Cramer Technical Director in Norwood, Massachusetts

The Technical Director is responsible for the overall organization of the technical production process and a leader on the events team. Their responsibilities include ensuring that every technical element is designed to work flawlessly for each event. They play a key role in a project from conception of ideas, pre-production, budgeting, on-site execution and ultimately closure of the project. The TD must have the ability to identify and pursue the best possible balance between creative concepts, technical capabilities and budgeting.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and monitor technical projects from initiation through delivery

  • Engage with clients as a senior member to help establish trust with client and confidence in the technical team’s capabilities

  • Oversee and participate in developing proposals , budgeting preparation and business development efforts

  • Offer technical support across various internal departments to ensure that all targets and requirements are met

  • Partner with creative team to fully understand client’s business objectives in order to develop technical plans that help meets those goals

  • Help set appropriate time frames for execution that enable the best work while meeting client deadlines

  • Ongoing research on latest technologies

  • Build on client relationships

Skills:

  • Technical experience in high-end audio / visual production

  • Event production/project management experience

  • Overall industry knowledge of live events

  • Experience with CAD software

  • Maintaining budgets

  • Labor management

  • Creative thinker & problem solver

  • Great interpersonal & leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure

Requirements

  • 4+ years experience with technical management in AV or broadcast environment

  • College degree preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and execute large technical events

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization up to and including executive level team

  • Experience in leading technical team to deliver creative

  • Ability to understand how the budget impacts technical decisions

  • Comfortable with facilitating conversations around value/cost implications with both internal and external teams
