Cramer Live Events Technical Director in Norwood, Massachusetts

The Technical Director is responsible for the overall organization of the technical production process and a leader on the events team. Their responsibilities include ensuring that every technical element is designed to work flawlessly for each event. They play a key role in a project from conception of ideas, pre-production, budgeting, on-site execution and ultimately closure of the project. The Technical Director must have the ability to identify and pursue the best possible balance between creative concepts, technical capabilities and budgeting.

  • Coordinate and monitor technical projects from kickoff to closing session

  • Be a leading voice with clients, establishing trust and confidence in the technical team’s capabilities

  • Oversee and participate in developing proposals, prepping budgets, and expanding service offerings

  • Support internal departments by ensuring technical targets and requirements are met

  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop technical plans that bring a client’s business objectives to life

  • Set technical deadlines and schedules that enable high-quality work while keeping the project on time and on budget



  • Advanced hands-on technical experience in high-end audio/visual production

  • Event production/project management experience

  • Advanced overall industry knowledge of live events

  • Experience with CAD software

  • Ability to maintain budgets

  • Experience with labor management (such as working with unions and freelancers)

  • Creative thinker & problem solver

  • Great interpersonal & leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure

  • Extremely organized with an eye for detail

  • Willingness to travel

  • Must be resourceful and able to troubleshoot


  • 4+ years experience with technical management in AV or broadcast environment

  • College degree preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and execute large technical events

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization up to and including executive level team

  • Proven track record with budgeting

  • Experience in leading technical team to deliver creative

  • The ability to understandhow the budget impacts technical decisions

  • Comfortable with facilitating conversations around value/cost implications with both internal and external teams
