Administration - Special Projects Copy link below to Browser for Full Job Description: https://recruiting.paylocity.com/Recruiting/Jobs/Details/1508907 POSITION TITLE: Community Engagement Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Administration \| Special Projects LOCATION: Northampton/Remote Work from Home STATUS: Non-Exempt Background: The Community Engagement Coordinator will be the bridge between Community Action Pioneer Valley (CAPV) and the City of Northampton?s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), with specific focus on supporting both the Northampton Community Resilience Hub (Hub) and the DHHS Division of Community Care (DCC). This position will work to support both DHHS/DCC and CAPV staff in coordinating support, services, and resources for our community?s most vulnerable residents, helping to coordinate between DHHS/DCC and CAPV in order to help both work more collaboratively. Summary: The Community Engagement Coordinator role includes a wide range of work navigating complex challenges involving individuals experiencing intersectional oppression. Broadly, the CEC will work to expand existing efforts to center the expertise of people in the unsheltered community, those living in poverty, and those experiencing mental/physical health crises, in the process of developing policies, procedures, and programs for both the Hub and DCC. Day to day, the CEC will build relationships with community members and local groups, plan and facilitate meetings, organize workshops and events, attend coalition calls, assist with communications and outreach. The CEC will also build relationships with a broad range of service providers in the region, and work to establish partnership with diverse agencies and groups, building their confidence in participating in the Hub and working with DCC. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Co-leadership in community engagement and outreach. Lead community outreach and engagement; building relationships with individuals and local groups, city hall, social service agencies, and grassroots leaders, especially those who have lived and living experience of poverty, houselessness, and mental/physical health, as well as those with experience navigating social service systems. Coordination of public meetings, events and workshops. Provide support for organizing and coordinating events, facilitating workshops and other community gatherings, including outreach and communications, logistics and operations, managing contracts with consultants and p Requirements ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE 5 years of experience in community engagement and outreach: including coalition building, activism, public engagement, community outreach, grassroots campaigns, and other movement-building activities. Capacity to lead outreach and engagement initiatives: including overall project leadership and ability to develop programs and initiatives that address the broadly defined goals of community engagement and lived-experience co-leadership in the Hub. Experience working with and/or supporting complex populations: including people experiencing intersectional impacts of homelessness, poverty, or mental and/or physical health crises. First-hand experience as a member of these groups qualifies as experience. Master?s degree in related field, or equivalent experience, supplemented by professional development or training on trauma-informed care, harm reduction, anti-racism, or peer-based support. Equivalent life/work experience meets the requirement for this educational qualification. Evidence of a good driving record and ability to be covered under Community Action?s non-owned and hired vehicle policy. Salary Description \$24.41 - \$25.90 / hour
