Teradyne Technical Writer in North Reading, Massachusetts

Teradyne's Storage Test ( group is comprised of two major product lines both serving fast growing markets: Hard disk drive and solid state drive (HDD and SSD) testers, and semiconductor SoC System Level Test (SLT) testers. The HDD/SSD testers serve the client and enterprise storage markets, while the SLT testers serve IC manufacturers of system-on-chip (SoC) devices. These tester families both rely heavily on engineering expertise in factory automation, robotics, precision device handling, electrical, thermal, software and of course test. Opportunity Overview

Teradyne’s Storage Test division is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and results-driven Technical Writer to provide world-class documentation support for Teradyne Storage Test products. Teradyne produces complex electro-mechanical test equipment, so this role requires an interest in documenting complicated technical equipment for internal and external users.

  • Create instructions for new installations as well as maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures for existing products

  • Reorganize, edit, and update manuals, notices, and bulletins for internal and external users

  • Absorb raw technical information from diverse sources and communicate it clearly and accurately

  • Proactively identify and interview SMEs from disciplines including hardware (mechanical and electrical), software, automation, and others

  • Coordinate discussions between multiple sources and quickly document the resolution of pressing factory and customer issues

  • Advocate for technical writing best practices while reviewing and peer editing documents

  • BA/BS degree in technical writing/communications/English or similar fields

  • 2+ years of experience in technical writing

  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, detailed text about intricate technical topics, preferably including automated test equipment (professional samples required)

  • Experience photographing technical equipment and creating descriptive images and diagrams

  • Proven aptitude with technical writing tools such as MadCap Flare, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Snagit in a professional environment; must have experience using content management system

  • Experience working with version control software, preferably Git

  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams or similar software

  • Ability to adhere to a style guide

  • Eagerness to work on multiple priorities with minimal supervision

  • Scrupulous organization and attention to detail

  • Desire to work with diverse team members in our local factory and across the world
