VideoLink Video Studio Installation Technician (ReadyCam) in Newton, Massachusetts

WHAT YOU’LL DO

VideoLink is looking for a Video Studio Installation Technician to install full ReadyCam systems and support new and existing ReadyCam customers. This position will require a solid understanding of software, communications technologies, and hardware systems integration. This position will work onsite at our Newton, MA HQ office and with required to travel to customer sites as necessary, sometimes on relatively short notice.

Our ReadyCam team offers lots of room for growth – and some occasional travel as well! We support each other on and off the road. Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Planning and installing ReadyCam remote broadcast systems at VideoLink and customer facilities.

  • Perform site surveys at customer locations to determine the best camera location and to specify all site preparation requirements to the customer, both orally and in writing.

  • Recommend any change orders to be executed based on site requirements.

  • Works with the Manager of ReadyCam Operations and the ReadyCam Project Manager to ensure accurate scope, specifics, and on-time delivery of ReadyCam projects.

  • Assist the ReadyCam Project Manager with equipment purchasing.

  • Handle all ReadyCam inventory control and paperwork tracking.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of ReadyCam equipment as needed.

  • Configure/program equipment for new installs and maintenance visits.

  • Provide ongoing support of both new and existing systems, including troubleshooting equipment on-site and remotely.

  • Research and recommend new equipment based on operational requirements and cost considerations.

  • Follow audio/video/data system schematics to install broadcast equipment.

  • Ensure internal knowledge database is accurate.

  • Analyzes his/her work to find process improvements, efficiencies, and cost savings.

  • Stay up to date on equipment and operational changes in multiple VideoLink departments, including ReadyCam, Operations, Production, and Sales.

  • Collaborate with VideoLink, its partners, and vendors on support solutions.

    ReadyCam Installation & Support Engineer will, as necessary:

  • Work with Operations, Production, and Sales Departments prior to events to determine how best to fulfill our customers’ technical requirements

  • Engineering Production support as needed

  • Operations support as needed

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    Must-have skills & job qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in television production, broadcast, events, A/V system integration or a similar field

  • College degree in television production or similar technical field.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Working to the highest technical standards is a necessity

  • Knowledge of broadcast equipment and programming, including but not limited to Sony and Panasonic robotic cameras, DSP audio mixers, Extron power and IR controllers, and AJA video recorders.

  • Competency in assembly of various broadcast connectors, and ability to follow neat wiring practices.

  • Basic knowledge of IT/networking configuration, including Linux and Cisco/Ubiquiti routers

  • Superb customer service skills

  • Track record of being organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential

  • Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and the ability to get along with co-workers and customers

  • Mature judgment to make sound decisions based on objective evidence, customer and VideoLink needs, and cost considerations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including necessary paper and/or computer documentation

  • Work performance and cooperation that serves as a role model for all. Ability to maintain a positive attitude, even under stress

  • Be responsible and reliable with the ability to set, track, and measure goals, delivering results on deadline.

    Nice-to-have skills & job qualifications

  • College degree in video production or communications

  • Certificates, including AVIXA CTS, CTS-D and CTS-I

  • CAD drawing

  • Linux system administration

    Other requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

  • Travel may be required based on time and location of remote productions as well as meetings at VideoLink Bureaus and client offices.

  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.

  • Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work.

  • Reachable outside of scheduled work hours.

  • Flexibility to work occasional off-hours, weekends and holidays as necessary.
