Karyopharm Therapeutics Inc. Sr Manager, Scientific Communications in Newton, Massachusetts

Under the guidance and leadership of the Head of Scientific Communications; assist, manage and/or lead:

  • Create scientific tools and materials in support of the oncology business including, but not limited to educational/training materials, disease state and product slide kits, etc.

  • Develop scientific programs and materials for internal and external customers

  • Accountable to the development of high quality and high impact scientific content support for medical affairs, clinical development and other internal customers.

  • Provide clinical / scientific information, input and interpretation as needed

  • Participate and /or lead as clinical content reviewer on the legal, medical regulatory review team

  • Create new and update existing training materials

  • Partner with the other team members on deliverables which include congress planning, congress materials, and other Global Medical Scientific Affairs (GMSA) tools and resources

  • Help create pre-congress materials (briefing books, content analysis etc.); and post congress executive summary report

  • Manage the execution of these plans through a cross functional team setting

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Advanced degree required; M.S. degree in medical science preferred

  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, within Medical Affairs, preferably Medical Communications or Scientific Communications

  • Oncology training or experience highly preferred

  • High proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel

  • Experience working & managing 3rd party vendors on projects and deliverables

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant clinical and therapeutic issues

  • Ability to create and present on scientific and clinical data in alignment with Global requirements and “Best Practices”

  • Proficiency in scientific literature searches, analysis, and evaluation

  • Strong project leadership and project management history

  • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills and capability of effectively combining science and relationship building

  • Ability to work effectively with key decision makers, both within and outside the company.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, even in the face of incomplete information or tight timelines and pressure

  • Well spoken, confident, enthusiastic and charismatic

  • Must be able to work in cross-functional teams across the organization in a dynamic environment
