International Data Group Consulting Manager in Needham, Massachusetts
IDC is seeking a Consulting Manager to work in our Customs Solutions group reporting to the VP of Custom Solutions.
The successful Consulting Manager will be able to engage clients to understand requirements and develop compelling proposals to win and support delivery of custom market research projects to meet those needs. In this role, you will manage client communications and as part of a team facilitate on-time, high quality market research-based deliverables and customer experiences with an eye towards growing customer relationships and business over time.
The role will entail active management of day-to-day communications and engagement milestones with both external clients and internal stakeholders. The Consulting Manager will partner with IDC’s centers of excellence (Buyer Behavior, Custom Analytics, Content Marketing, etc.), IDC analysts, sales, and other groups such as outside contractors as appropriate to yield the highest value for our customers.
This role will offer growth opportunities in the form of more varied exposure to IDC’s custom solutions, deeper experience in specific market research methodologies, more autonomy in terms of business development (proposals and/or solution design), and client leadership.

This role will preferably be located in IDC's Needham, MA HQ or IDC Canada's Toronto office.
However, we will consider remote candidates in states and provinces where IDC is able to hire.
Operate with a client-centric orientation to maximize IDC value in terms of quality, timeliness, and customer experience.
Help scope and manage projects that satisfy client requirements and address project specifications and timelines as proposed.
Manage quality assurance in every stage of the engagement (proposals through to delivery), e.g., optimizing the look and feel of the final deliverables, proof-reading for accuracy, ensuring quality assurance on a dataset, etc.
Analyze quantitative datasets and/or survey data
Data interpretation and the ability to develop a data-driven story
Set and manage client expectations including:
Create and monitor workplans
Effective meeting management
Driving ongoing team communications (internal & external)
Managing project budgets and accounting related to engagements (revenue and expense recognition)
Manage competing priorities
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, Master’s or MBA a plus
3-5 years of professional experience with a focus on client service and project management
Subject matter expertise and a working knowledge of the ITC market is advantageous
Understanding of market research and related methodologies (e.g. qualitative and quantitative research, market modeling, etc.)
Excellent communication skills with written and oral communications
Strong project management skills are essential. PMP certification a plus
Experienced in MS Office PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook
Travel generally less than 20% (post COVID)
