International Data Group Category Manager, Travel and Events in Needham, Massachusetts
We are seeking an innovative and strategic Category Manager, Travel and Events who will play a transformational role in being responsible for the creation and implementation of the category’s strategic direction. This role will be responsible for managing internal and external relationships while driving product/service innovation that will positively improve the customer experience, and support IDG’s business objectives. The Category Manager will work within the team, with support and partnership from the Global Procurement team, to develop and embed the strategies into the sourcing process ensuring that the business and customer priorities are met. This role will contribute to building the travel and meeting program roadmaps. This is a high visibility position offering opportunities for transformation, meaningful impact and deep collaboration with senior leaders and vendors across all geographies. The individual in this role must quickly develop partnerships with internal stakeholders, 3rd party partners, and senior leadership to build alignment and drive program goals, key projects, and initiatives.

Execute procurement strategies for the travel, meetings, and events categories that align with the organization's overall procurement goals and objectives.
Manage the sourcing, negotiation, and contracting for travel, meetings, and events-related products and services.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including meeting and event planners, and business unit leaders, to ensure that procurement decisions align with business needs and compliance requirements.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance to ensure the organization receives the best value for its spend.
Identify cost-saving initiatives that reduce the organization's spend on travel, meetings, and events-related products and services.
Develop and maintain metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of the procurement function in the travel, meetings, and events categories.
Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs in the procurement of travel, meetings, and events-related products and services.
Monitor industry trends and developments to identify emerging opportunities and risks in the travel, meetings, and events categories.
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to the procurement of travel, meetings, and events-related products and services.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. We will consider qualified candidates with relevant field experience in Travel and Expense Program Management, preferably in a transformational role
10 year’s previous experience in global travel and expense program management
Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence others
Ability to work in a changing/evolving environment
Excellent procurement skills and experience.
Experience with Technology, Travel, and Services procurement categories preferred.
Vendor negotiation and contract management experience desirable.
Experience with electronic sourcing and procurement tools (MS D365 a plus).
Ability to manage a portfolio of responsibilities and the analytical skills necessary to prioritize and optimize multiple priorities and objectives.
Excellent skills with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Teams, PowerBI).
This role is located in our Needham MA office, with a hybrid work schedule. We will consider qualified candidates for approved US remote locations.

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $115,000 and $135,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
