Waters Senior Global Transportation Manager in Milford, Massachusetts
Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Senior Global Transportation Manager to join our Global Distribution and Logistics (GDL) organization to support our operations globally. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to drive the optimization of global distribution and logistics, implement enterprise solutions and influence Waters' strategies.
Senior Global Transportation Manager will drive value for Waters by controlling costs, delivering service excellence for our customers, and strategizing optimization and continuous improvement opportunities throughout the global distribution and logistics network. This includes managing and building strong relationships with carriers, our logistics staff, and managing & leveraging our 3rd party transportation providers. Candidate should be logistics subject matter expert (SME) to support of key corporate strategic initiatives and transportation/logistics network strategy development. This position will be in the Milford, MA site.
Analyze & develop a transportation strategy based on changing business needs to optimize Waters’ supply chain activities (e.g. cost reduction, service enhancements, strategic partnerships and customer collaborations, continuous improvement opportunities)
Work collaboratively and foster strong work relationships within the organization including Sales, Customer Experience, Warehousing & Inventory, Sourcing, and Planning
Engage new transportation vendors to meet new business needs and growth expectations
Demonstrated ability to obtain, analyze and execute on continuous improvement opportunities in a fast-paced environment
Partner and collaborate with manufacturing sites regarding transportation provider enhancements including reviewing inbound transportation guidelines
Manage Waters global relationships with all transportation providers as a part of GDL’s overall strategy, transformation, and structure
Provide GDL interface with Indirect Sourcing for Transportation Category Management and drive a high level of collaboration to best optimize spend globally
Provide global supplier management driving Monthly/Quarterly/Annual business reviews for increased performance
Research, track and communicate industry trends, best practices, applicable indices, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for innovation, competitive advantage, and increased profitability
Oversee implementation activities, assess, and mitigate potential risks, evaluate project successes and failures and drive process changes to improve future projects
Keep current with the latest transportation industry trends, technology, and system
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics or technical studies; Graduate degree a plus
Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in distribution and logistics
Experience in a managerial role with a logistics service provider or the logistics organization of a manufacturing company in a professional equipment sector
Experience with the use of Lean tools, e.g. PCDA, visual management, structured problem solving, Hoshin, is high desired
A strong ability to handle data to create analyses for decisions and meaningful reports and presentations (Excel, Power BI)
Self-starter; must be responsible, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written plus an ability to adjust communication style to different audiences as required
Must be able to interact with a wide range of people – from customers to department leaders, from shop floor to the Executive Committee
Experience with financial processes: budgeting, reporting, analysis of results
Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP and planning concepts
Experience with RFQ/RFPs a plus
