Simplify Compliance Senior Legal Editor in Middleton, Massachusetts

Job Summary:

The Senior Legal Editor is responsible for ensuring that high-quality content is produced in a variety of formats, across multiple products for an HR audience.    This can be a remote position and requires a JD and a strong familiarity with HR concepts and employment law, preferably with experience related to leave, workers’ compensation, and/or unemployment compensation issues. The Senior Legal Editor serves as a resource to the content team, and creates, edits, and manages the content for multiple digital products, webinars, and employment law compliance inquiries. The role requires delving into multiple topic areas to break down complex ideas into simple terms. The Senior Legal Editor must understand how to bring value to the customer through instructional/guidance-oriented content. Qualified candidates should be comfortable researching and writing about complex HR issues, interacting with customers, and collaborating and coordinating with team members across multiple locations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop expertise for assigned segments, including audience composition, customer needs and driving forces that affect them (e.g. regulations, best practices)

  • Write and edit clear, informative, and engaging content to be used in a variety of customer solutions, primarily in answering employment law questions from customers without providing legal advice

  • Upload relevant content to applicable digital properties through the content management system and ensure content displays and functions correctly

  • Adhere to strict deadlines and budget requirements for all assigned products

  • Collaborate with team members and across departments (including marketing, product, production and development) to maintain content standards, implement content strategies, and ensure customer needs and deadlines are met

  • Meet frequently with product, production, sales and marketing staff to discuss projects and resolve problems

  • Represent the products and services in customer and prospect engagements, including onsite at internal conferences and industry events

  • Propose new product ideas in your area(s) of expertise across all product lines, and oversee all content-related phases of the new products process, including conducting research, writing proposals, and presenting the finished concept

  • Maintain an awareness of and adherence to company guidelines for messaging, tone, style, and editorial process

  • Determine content for assigned digital products, including the creation of a long-term editorial calendar and managing deadlines

    Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure customer engagement and satisfaction with content

  • Identify areas for new content development to increase value of current customer solutions

    The Individual:

  • Broad general knowledge in employment law, preferably including employee leave, worker’s compensation, and/or unemployment compensation

  • Strong familiarity with HR concepts

  • Demonstrated ability to discern customer needs and envision multiple solutions

  • Ability to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines

  • Self-motivated team mentor

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, research, and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability in time management, multitasking, and project management

  • Attention to detail, accuracy

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment

  • Ability to think logically, classify content, and apply taxonomy

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

    Qualifications:

  • JD

  • 7 or more years’ experience in working with employment law issues

  • Ability to write clearly for an HR audience
