We’re seeking a multi-disciplinary designer to join the Corporate Communications team in the Office of the CEO. This group leads external communications, public relations, and internal communications efforts for Cengage. The team is also responsible for social media and digital properties, such as Cengage’s LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Glassdoor, Indeed and the Cengage website.
As the sole graphic designer on this team, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to create collateral and visual assets that bring Cengage’s brand identity and mission to life.

Lead all aspects of Cengage’s corporate visual identity, including updating the Brand Style Guide and working to establish and maintain consistency in corporate branding.
Support the full life cycle of creative development, from conceptualizing creative assets, copywriting graphic and video content, executing design creation and revisions.
Proactively suggest creative ideas that align with ongoing campaigns and/or further efforts to help meet overall team goals. Deeply integrate with the communications team in order to take a holistic, strategic approach to designing creative assets.
Bring your creativity to bear on corporate fact sheets, investor materials, infographics, reports, short gifs/videos, professional PPTs, and graphics for the website.
Work closely with other members of the corporate communications team to build graphics and visual templates to enhance communication with employees.
Partner with the Digital Communications Manager on social media assets to be used across a variety of social channels
Leverage your design skills to up-level PPT presentations and reports to better depict Cengage’s mission and vision in front of an investor audience.
Skills you will need:
3-5 years of professional experience in graphic design, ideally working on design for integrated, cross-channel marketing and communications efforts.
Diverse skillset – deep expertise in static graphic design, but ability to work on short video and gif projects as well for digital channels.
Experience with PPT design required.
Mastery of Adobe design software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Keen eye for detail and brand standards, along with a mix of creative and technical know-how.
Solid understanding of animation and video editing.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, with an appetite to learn and work hard in a collaborative, team environment.
A creative problem solver with a proactive attitude who will take ownership of suggesting design ideas to help meet team goals.
Strong communication skills, well-practiced at updating team members about the status of projects in a timely manner.
Solid understanding of creative best practices (around accessibility, designing for the web, etc.).
A stand-out portfolio of design work.
Basic copywriting experience is preferred.
Agency experience is a plus.
Experience with website content management systems a plus.
