What Creative Services contributes to Cardinal Health

Marketing is responsible for assessing customer needs, market conditions and competition to inform business strategy. Marketing implements the strategy through developing, commercializing and monitoring the appropriate products and services.

Creative Services is responsible for the conception, design and production of creative projects and programs from intake through delivery. These projects support marketing communication goals for the business.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Copywriter supports the strategic direction, development and creation of marketing copy and communications materials for the Corporate Segment (such as corporate branding, programs and employee-facing initiatives) and the Pharmaceutical Segment (such as multimedia digital and print marketing materials, messaging guides, ads and product and solution naming). The ideal candidate is proactive and serves as a key creative thought leader and valued consultant to these clients. The Copywriter works closely with in-house designers and partners directly with internal clients to develop a working knowledge of clients’ business challenges to execute writing requests and meet clients’ business objectives. Secondarily, the Copywriter supports the editing and proofreading of new and existing materials. The Copywriter must exhibit strong promotional and technical writing skills and maintain high standards, including excellent command of AP Style and Cardinal Health Brand voice and tone, in all assigned writing or editing projects, and across all materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writes creative, effective marketing copy according to project specifications/creative brief from concept to execution
  • Recommends, researches and develops facts, quotes and scenarios to support creative strategy and execution
  • Acts as subject matter expert recommending best-in-class written approach in all channels, and remains current on communication trends
  • Provides writing and editing support for aligned client group(s), as well as supporting projects from other internal clients as demand and scheduling requires
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Creative Services, Brand and Digital Marketing teams as needed for specific project objectives
  • Produces and is accountable for the final development of creative assets and ensures accuracy, attention to detail, grammatical excellence and overall meets or exceeds the writing objectives
  • Ensures messaging Brand guidelines and directives are embraced and adhered to in all executions
  • Executes writing and editing requests with accuracy, producing zero errors in work (all client edits are implemented correctly, spelling and grammar are correct, AP Style in place, Brand voice and tone adhered to, facts confirmed)
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills
  • Works directly with clients, peers and leadership to continuously evaluate metrics and KPIs to improve written contributions

  • Understands writing applications in traditional and emerging channels, including digital
  • Maintains and enforces consistent Brand voice and tone, with specific audience focus in all writing
  • Ensures messaging is concise and effective
  • Exhibits consistent quality control in copywriting and editing outputs
  • Exhibits an understanding of specific channels or vertical markets as required by job function
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt style of copy to various audiences, purposes or media
  • Collaborates with all stakeholders to help move projects forward, acts as communication SME and demonstrates excellent relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues
  • Operates effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment


  • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • 6+ years’ experience working within a corporate or agency copy/editing position
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to function collaboratively with team
  • Understanding of traditional, digital and emerging communication channels
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Healthcare writing experience preferred
